HistoryThe first steam locomotive was

manufactured by the British Richard Trevithick, and the first on February 21, 1804 on a test track.

1840s, started using robotic plate number machine. In 1857, people began to use more robust than wrought iron rail tracks. 1863, London, England built the first underground railway.

In 1864, George ‧ M ‧ Pullman sleeper design a new car. In 1879, the world's first electric trains start running.

Page 4: Rail vehicles

Prophase PowerThe initial train is pulled by a rope or horses. In

the nineteenth century, most of the trains were replaced by steam locomotive traction. After the 1940s, steam locomotives gradually replaced by cleaner and requires less labor diesel locomotives, electric locomotives and later appeared EMU.

Electrified railway initial investment is large, but it is calculated per in the lowest operating cost. Therefore, it is only suitable for high-traffic lines electrified. Electrified trains may use third rail or overhead cables to take power.

Page 5: Rail vehicles

Minimum steam locomotive performance, followed by diesel locomotives (electric drive high efficiency hydraulic transmission ratio), electric locomotives or EMUs contrast, the more the economy. Because the kinetic energy without consuming additional power generating traction engine.

Power Systems

From the early steam train, the use of burning coal to generate power to drive the train, but the disadvantage is that the environmental impact will produce a lot of burning, so will now evolve into electricity used to power.

Aerial tram line:has only one electrode wires, electric locomotive to take power through a pantograph, and then through a metal wheel-rail back to the grid.

Page 8: Rail vehicles

The third track:the concept is powered rail trains outside two tracks, plus live tracks, electric train collector device touch and glide on the live tracks, the power transmitted to the train, rail power supply system voltage than the overhead catenary system is small, the third rail system can only provide up to about 1500 volts DC.

railway vehicle parts.

Primary suspension: spring caused by the use of steel, has the advantage of supporting the spring force, but it is easy to rust, metal fatigue occurs.

Page 11: Rail vehicles

SecondarySuspension:Arising from reliance on air power to supporting weight, compressed air from the main air supply hose, and by adjusting the pressure in the valve control airbags.

Maglev TrainBy a magnetic force

(ie magnetic attraction and repulsion forces) to

promote train. Because of its orbit so that the magnetic force in the air suspension, without touching the ground when walking, so the air resistance of the resistance only. Maximum speed maglev train can reach more than 550 km per hour

vehicle using magnets to float the train, with the lower part of both sides of the "T"-shaped rail vehicles surrounded on both sides of the rail. With a strong magnetic force in the lower electromagnet turn portion of a vehicle surface, a bottom guide plate is provided. On steel, the electromagnet next.

emissions less than one-third of the land. Seven per cent of the burden of train traffic, only 0.2 percent of carbon monoxide emissions, two hundredths of one percent of the nitrogen oxides and various organic compounds. Currently most of the world rely on diesel train engines affects, but the future will use non-polluting emissions than the power train.
