  • This is Miss Vaughan’s favourite week of the year! All classes will be reading the short listed books and enjoying a variety of activities during Library time. A week full of fun, creativity, imagination, treasure hunting and BOOKS! There is nothing better and we cannot wait!

Book Parade will be on Friday 24 August from 11.30am, and we will be dressing up as our favourite book characters followed by a book themed assembly starting at around 12.30pm. Pre-schoolers and parents are welcome to dress-up to enjoy the fun with us (special prizes for each group!) and can stay to enjoy lunch with students in the playground.

    MEET THE STUDENT SPEECHIES

    IT’S BOOK WEEK!

Devna Luthra Hello! My name is Devna and I am studying in my final year as a Speech and Language Pathologist from Sydney Uni. I’m very excited to be working with the students and teachers at Railway Town Public School over the next few weeks. I have never been to Broken Hill before but I am looking forward to exploring the area!

Jayne Ayliffe Hi, I am studying my final year in the Master of Speech Patholo-gy at Flinders University. Growing up in a small country town in South Australia (500 people), just 1 ½ hours north of Adelaide, I was keen to go take up the offer of a rural placement. I travelled through here about 20 years ago but only stopped overnight. So I am keen to check out the area and be involved in as many community activities as possible. My previous degree was So-cial Work. I have mainly worked in higher education as well as community development. My current job is as a Disability Advis-er at UniSA. I have 2 children; a daughter (20yo) and a son (19yo). I like gardening, cooking and travelling and I have a pet turtle called Toby.

  • Congratulations to Lillian Singleton, Emily Dyson, Cohen Clavel and Austin Clavel who represented Railway Town Public School at the Broken Hill Primary Schools Public Speaking Competition held at Sacred Heart Primary School last week.

The students all wrote their own speeches of between three and four minutes, on varying subjects, and delivered them with confidence.

Lillian, Emily, Austin and Cohen received an Achievement Award and Austin and Cohen also received a Highly Commended Award. Great work!!

    Sending out a HUGE

to Coles, along with all RTPS Students, Staff and Community members that collected the Sports for Schools vouchers from Coles in Term 2 and provided them to the school. We’ve received a well needed boost to our sporting equipment including a ball storage trolley, an air compressor, stop watches, tunnels, hoops, dodge balls and up-to-date equipment for our RTPS Gala Day

    teams.
