OUR STORY

Chris and Maria Slay are co-owners of Rainbow International of Sugar Land and Katy.

Both of us come from manager and director level corporate backgrounds. Within a year of being married, we put together a two year plan to escape the corporate world and venture into owning a business together. The first decision was whether to franchise or create a startup. This was the easiest decision. Walking into a business with an established customer base in place put franchising well above all else.We looked at pizza, ice cream, sandwiches, hair salons, home healthcare and several other opportunities. Once we met and looked at Rainbow, the answer was immediately obvious to us. Even though we knew nothing about restoration, we knew this was the company for us. There are many factors that played into this decision but one of the most overpowering was the people we met at the corporate office. They were heads above others we had visited. Friendly and helpful but most of all was the way their values showed. We knew right away that we wanted to be a part of this organization. Even after this sale, the people of Rainbow will continue to be in our lives.

The reason for buying a franchise is that you have customers immediately when you open the doors. We then used the Key Account Program to spring board us from the basic into growth.Every year, our organic business has been greater than KAP work.

Residential work is nice. It’s quick (typically three days) and it’s steady. But commercial work brings bigger paychecks. Our commercial side is growing steadily.

We believe in the success of Rainbow International of Sugar Land and Katy so much so that, after the sale is final, Chris and Maria will work with the new owner to assist with processes, inspections, paperwork, insurance companies, restoration jobs, equipment use and anything else you need pertaining to operation the business as long as you feel you need the help. This will be at no charge to you for one month.

As you know from the opening statement, both Chris and Maria came from the corporate world prior to starting this business. In the past two years, that corporate world has contacted us and made offers to come back. Over the years, we have consistently turned them down. Recently we have been made an offer we just can’t refuse.
