Compound and complex sentences
A compound sentence is joined by a connective. It has two main clauses.
A complex sentence contains a subordinate clause.
Complex Sentences
The rainforest, a hot and humid location, is a home for many forms of wildlife.
The rainforest canopy, made by a thick covering of trees, prevents the sun from shining through.
Although the rainforest is hot, it is not quite as hot as a desert.

Extension: Write the title 'Rainforest Glossary' in your book. Choose some words from the wordbank and write a definition of each. Use a dictionary to help.
Write the title 'Rainforest Questions' in your book. Write each question out as a heading followed by the answer, using full sentences and paragraphs.
