HOW WE WORK ! RSET ED Club started its activities actively from 2004, and

changed to RSET IEDC from 2015 onwards. RSET IEDC is

funded by KSUM, out of which Rs.2 Lakhs is utilized for

student and staff IEDC activities. RSET Management has given

us funds of Rs.5 lakh, which is used for establishing IEDC room

and its infra-structure.

Our aim is to improve Innovation, Creative thinking skills of

students and thereby develop good social relevant projects and

to prototype them and help them to find funding/incubation

from Govt./Private sources to start a Start-up or help them be

good innovators. Our mode of operation is to plan, train and

monitor the IEDC activities of students in their department with

the help of each faculty mentors which would aid us in achieving

our mission.

RSET IEDC

RSET IEDC gives a very good platform to ping out the

innovative ideas in the students by conducting various

interesting and mind capturing events. In the year 2018-19 a

number of intra college and inter college events were

conducted and hosted, through which students from various

parts gained knowledge, showed up their skills and were able

to develop themselves in various fields. And very far part of

it is that 99% of the attendence was ensured in each of the

events. The exemplary team work and the exotic ideas

excavated resulted in extraordinary activities which inturn

Young Innovators Programme is a specially designed

program under Kerala Development and Innovation

Strategic Council (K-DISC).

The program aims to empower future innovators to

innovate new products, services or models to meet

emerging requirements, unarticulated needs, or

existing market needs of the society more effectively

through an innovative challenge.

It was an event which was completely organized for the school students as well as

college students. The session began with design thinking activities for the students.

Then they were asked to present the same. The students were able to discover what

they are and what they want to be.

In a time where automation is already used in nearly

every industry, the next innovation to take the lead

would be automated learning. This workshop will

provide strong theoretical knowledge on the structure

and working of neural networks, as well as a hands-on

session to develop a primitive neural network using

Python packages. For the proper functioning of neural

networks, data preprocessing is of large importance,

therefore the workshop will also cover the importance

and the need for data preprocessing, which will be

explained using the largely used and publicly available

MNIST dataset. The related python packages will be

handled in the advanced Python session.

Afternoon session lead by Shabari of S7EEE gave the

students a hands-on experience on how to implement

a line follower robot using Arduino, imparting the

students with insights into principles of robotics. As a

token of appreciation from IEDC and department of

EEE, mementos were gifted to the speakers. All

students expressed their interest for similar

workshops in future.

An insight into the world of mapping was conducted on 8th May 2019 by HERE

Technologies as part of IEDC Enrichment Programme on navigation mapping and

customization of maps for personal needs. The workshop was led by Mr. Aziz Doctor,

Ms. Kalpana Jha and Ms. Aditi Rao. The event got off the mark at 8:30 A.M with an

interactive session for the students to help them realize the importance of mapping and

directional analysis in the modern world of internet technologies. They also emphasized

on how the product of HERE Technologies can influence and modify the ideas of students

to help their projects scale new heights. There were around 125 students of differing

engineering backgrounds participating in the workshop making this an informative event

for all the participants.

After the introductory session, participants were divided into 2 batches of which one

batch got the opportunity to familiarize with the features present in the HERE mobile

application and website while the other batch did a hands-on workshop on API and SDK

for maps and location aware mobile apps. The hands-on event also consisted of a quiz

competition. Mr. Aziz Doctor handled the hands-on session which educated the

participants on how to implement the platform provided by HERE technologies in the

personal projects of the participants.

The afternoon session saw the batches interchange their roles. The handing out of

certificates for excellent performers during the quiz and goodies for the most active

participants marked the end of a fine event that was both informative as well as

entertaining.
