Greetings and a warm welcome to the very first issue of RSU Newsletter !
To create more awareness about Raksha Shakti University and its activities among community, it has been decided to bring out RSU Newsletter every quarter from year 2015. The RSU Newsletter will focus on various activities and events organised by the University which includes Conference, Seminar, Workshop, Special Training Programme, Visit, RSU participation, Competitions organised at RSU and Awards won by RSU. This first Newsletter released has precise and timely information of the progress and development of Raksha Shakti University.

A meeting was held at Raksha Shakti University on
24/02/2015 between Israeli College for Security &
Investigation (Israel) and Raksha Shakti University
(Ahmedabad).
Mr. Ronen Erez (Director of the Physical Security) and Dr.
Shimon Karmi (Director of the National Security &
Terrorism) from ICSI, Israel together with Mr. Sanjay
Srivastava, (Founder & Head-SBD), Knot International,
Representative in India visited Raksha Shakti University,
Ahmedabad for Meeting, Presentation and Discussion
for Academic Collaboration between Israeli College for Security & Investigation (Israel) and Raksha Shakti
University (India) for running Academic Courses for the Homeland Security including setting up of National
Security Studies at RSU.

st41 NACIACP Conferencest41 National Annual Conference of Indian Association of
Clinical Psychology 2015, jointly organised by Institute of
Research and Development, Raksha Shakti University,
Ahmedabad and Pandit Deendayal Petroleum
University, Gandhinagar, has successfully completed.
The conference was inaugurated by the chief guest
Prof. N. R. Dave, Educat ional Advisor, PDPU,
Gandhinagar and the Guest of Honour Dr. Manas
Mandal, Distinguished Scientist, Director General,
DRDO, New Delhi. More than 450 participants from all
our India registered & participated in the conference.
Closing ceremony of the conference was held on 8th at 4:00 PM which was presided by Hon'ble chief justice of
Mumbai High Court Justice M. S. Shah.
Dr. G. G. Prabhu was Awarded with Life Achievement Award by IACP for outstanding contribution in the field of
Forensic Psychology award was conferred on Dr. K. C. Agrawal, First Director, FSL, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Recognition” organised by the Institute of Research &
Development, Raksha Shakti University for executives of
Reliance Industries Ltd., Jamnagar from 25th to 27th
March, 2015. Total Seven officers have participated in
the said training programme.

“Role of Forensic Science in Modern Investigation of Crime”.
During the visit lectures were delivered by Dr. S. L. Vaya, Director (R&D), Mr. Sumit Choudhary, Asst. Professor (Forensic
Science), and Mr. C. V. Gajjar (Scientific Officer) have taken lectures on various topics.

organised by Govt. of Gujarat. In the event various
activities and future plan of the university were
displayed. Faculty members, Officers and Student
representatives of the university have actively
participated in the event during 11-13 January, 2015 at
Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar.
Raksha Shakti University has participated in the
"National Traffic Technology Summit-2015", jointly
organised by Gujarat Police and Confederation of
Indian Industries on 2nd January, 2015 at YMCA
Auditorium, Ahmedabad. RSU had its Stall displaying its
exhaustive research work on City Traffic Situation of
Ahmedabad. A range of innovative Security Products
endogenously developed by RSU were displayed
which received laudable appreciation from the
eminent gathering spearheaded by MoS Home Shri
Rajnikant Patel.

On the occasion of 100th International Women's Day
Celebration, the Raksha Shakti University (RSU) has
organized a celebration of various events in the first
week of March 2015. The series of events were planned
by the initiative of Women Development Cell, RSU.
The Women Development Cell comprising Dr. S. L. Vaya,
Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Dr. Dimple Raval and Ms. Surekha
Talari took initiative for organizing the poster
presentation cum exhibition on the theme 'The Role of
Women in 21st Century – Empowerment and
Achievements'. This activity has called for a wide
participation of students, faculties, and other staff of the
university. The Women Development Cell received
round 100 posters under various themes.
A series of posters were presented by Dr. Dimple Raval
on legal rights of women which stood out as a unique
feature of the exhibition. The M. Tech class has
presented a poster mapping of Gujarat Counseling
Services for Women. The M.A, B.A, PGDIPS and DIPS

Shri Chandresh Parekh (Assistant professor, Telecommunication) has attended “Security Skills & Education
Conclave 2014” organized by Security Sector Skill Development Council on 2nd August at New Delhi. It was
really good gathering of private security organizations and institutes working on internal security. The objective
of this event was to offer a unique opportunity to security providers, end users and senior functionaries of the
government for knowledge sharing on internal security challenges, the skilling process and the need for all
stakeholders to work together in harmonizing efforts of all concerned to promote a safe and secure
environment for society at large.
Whole day was executed with well planning in five sessions including opening and closing sessions. Eminent
speakers were invited to cover various issues of private security sector. They all together focused on following
topics:

finally Protect the cyber world.

Imagine Digital India Summit hosted by Microso on
30th and 31st March, 2015 at Gujarat Forensic Sciences
University, Gandhinagar.
At this event students got training on Windows 8/
Windows Phone/ Microso Azure/ Office 365
technologies and were encouraged to showcase
ideas/ apps/ solutions centric on: Digital India Apps,
Smart Governance Apps, Smart City Apps, Applications
in socially relevant areas like HealthCare, Education,
Agriculture, World Citizenship, Administration, Women
Safety etc. In interaction session, Mr. Pratap Mishra and Ms. Avni Guna won prizes for giving right answers .

students contributed to the role model and general awareness/information related posters. The significant
numbers of posters were also contributed by the Director General Shri O.P. Mathur on the practical information
on various facets of womanhood life in the 21st century.
As a result of these series of efforts, the Women Development Cell (RSU) has been able to do final event
celebration on 10th March 2015. The Women Development Cell invited Dr. Jyothsna Yagnik , the principal
session judge (retired) who is currently the Director of United World School of Law, Ahmedabad to speak on the
occasion as a guest speaker. The other imminent panel members were such as DG Shri O.P Mathur and
Director (R&D) Dr. Vaya were also present and shared their views on women empowerment with the students of
RSU. They elaborated that the RSU is keen in promoting women's education whereby RSU has given 50% fees off
to the female students.
The event was concluded by prize distribution to the students who have been selected by the panel of judges
(comprising DG, Director (R&D) and for their poster contributions. The students were also provided snacks at the
end of the event.
