The Core Mission

• IEEE-USA Innovation Institute will:– offer programs designed to advance the

preparation of leaders responsible for the innovation of new products and services by sharing the experiences of successful innovators in a coordinated program of interaction, mentoring and networking.

Innovation ForumsTwo day workshops held regionally with sponsorship of IEEE’s U.S. sections,

chapters or societies. Repeat on annual cycle.

Breakout chaired by Associates – what do we learn (recap of findings)

Breakout groups develop the first case to conclusion (Guided by Associates and Facilitators). Share actual outcome. Associates set up premises for Session 2

Closing session Findings of each breakout group, merged by faculty.

Session 2 – Tutorial: Large versus Small Organizations as seed beds for innovation. Presenter plus panel

Breakout groups develop next case study to conclusion (Some small business some large business. A/F share actual conclusions, incl. what failed.

Session 3 –The Innovation Process: What is known to succeed or fail? Formal tutorial in R&D environment (including short example case studies by lecturer outcome as far as function, cost, etc. (assisted by Facilitators)

5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Breakout groups develop the first case to conclusion (Guided by Associates and Facilitators).

The Innovation Network

• An online community with tools for on-going discussion, live chats, and moderated topical forums.

• Registration for an Innovation Forum makes participant a “Member” of the Innovation Network for one year, with renewal option.

• Faculty would use the community to interact with mentees and provide mentorship.
