MONOLAYER BLOWN FILM LINESINTRODUCTION: Randcastle blown film (less than 0.010 inch) extruders melt and pump the polymer through an
annular die. The film is drawn by the nip rolls as a bubble over low pressure air (inserted through the die) becoming
thinner as it is drawn. A blower supplies air to an air ring which cools the film. Our blown film lines make film from
about 1 to 18 inches wide making them ideal for research, development,and quality control applications.
TECHNOLOGY: Randcastle is a technology driven company focusing on small diameter extrusion lines. We
start with the patented Microtruder vertical screw extruder with screws up to four times stronger than the same
horizontal extruders; they feed much better and surge far less. Our exclusive smooth bore feed sections give you
unparalleled processing flexibility. Add the inexpensive on-line rheometer measure viscosity and you can link flow
and film properties. Our spiral dies remove weld lines yet are viscosity insensitive so you can process a much
broader range of materials and still make uniform film. Our single lip air ring converts into a dual lip rings just in case
your applications change. Randcastle towers include low friction collasping canopies and different style winders.

This bench mounted line, complete with in-line rheometer, fits into a tiny 30 x 65 inch space. It can be equipped with a compounding screw up to 50:1 L/D and four Recirculating mixers. Use a single heat history to make the best films. The Recirculating mixer has been shown to make thinner films at lower temperatures.

2 TO 8 EXTRUDERSEXPANDABLE PANCAKE DIES: The heart of a coextrusion blown film line is the die and lab dies must be flexible. Unlike most lab dies, we evenly divide the flow for each material to form concentric layers. We designed the die and base for expansion so a two layer line can be expanded to 15 layers and 8 extruders. Plus, the tiny footprint(see drawing back page) saves valuable space. Remember, old spiral dies only work for a narrow range of viscosity. Your lab applications may not stay in that range. Randcastle pancake dies assure uniform layering.
