Learn, make friends, and have fun this

summer!

Build SkillsNeed to brush up on math or improve your study skills?

Basic Math: Focus on basic operations and word problems with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Pre-Algebra: Learn about equations, the use of rational numbers, inequalities, and functions. Connect algebraic functions to geometry.

Study Skills: Discover the methodology of proper study habits, what works and what does not. Practice organizational, note-taking, and reading skills, and learn proper research and writing skills.

English as a Second Language is also available. For more information, visit www.rma.edu/summer-esl.

Enrich Your SummerLove history, music, or writing? How about computer animation or science?

Digital Media: This course introduces web-based programs and applications. Learn the basics of digital art, pho-tography, presentation and computer-aided de-sign, and explore careers in the digital field.

Music Technology: Learn how to play piano using R-MA’s MIDI (Musi-cal Instrument Digital Interface) lab. Each work station features a full 88-key keyboard with weight-ed keys and alternate instrumentation. Compose, play, and record your own music!

The curriculum for the following courses will cen-ter around this year’s theme: Colonial America.

The Experimental Explorer*: Did you know the remote control was created in 1898? From telescopes and electricity to zippers and ice cream, some of the most amazing every-day items have come from early American scien-tists. This summer, step into the shoes of famous inventors and re-create their experiments!

Journeying Journalists: Use your imagination to travel into Colonial Amer-ica and meet George Washington, or witness an American Revolution battle that is so vivid you can almost hear the shouts and the gunfire. Read the stories, then write your own!

Legends and Lore of Virginia*: Walk in the footsteps of great legends, including George Washington, and learn what their world was like. Experience their passion for their country and the conflict in their hearts as tensions between the colonies and England unfold, with Virginia in the middle of it all.

*Note: There are three periods each day. The Exper-imental Explorer and Legends and Lore of Virginia each run for two periods; students taking one of these can only choose one additional course.Activities pictured are from past summer camps. Activities will vary each year.
