XII. Subcommittee Reports
A. Activities Report: Report given by Ashley C, Activities Chair
Hello RANA and thank you for your OVERWHEMLING support this month. We meet on Thursday December 4th at 6pm
at Wegmans and we had 16 members come and support and brainstorm details for the holiday party and Marathon meeting. We will be meeting again same time and place on December 18th. We are waiting to receive a call at 5:30pm today on an approval of event locations. The event will be named ‘Gifts of recovery’ and will be a holiday potluck. We will be having a kid’s crafts table, clean-time countdown and a big prize giveaway! We are accepting the following: Non-denominational holiday decorations Signups for Potluck dishes (there will be a sheet that will go around at various meeting or contact me) Volunteers to decorate and clean-up We will be having a marathon meeting on Dec 25th from 9am-7pm location TBA
We are making a motion to request $600 of budgeted money In loving service, Ashley C.
Discussion:
Discussion about how marathon meeting will be chaired
$600 being requested will take area below prudent reserve
B. Hospitals & Institutions (H&I) Report: Given by H&I Chair, John C
Hello Everyone I'm John, I'm an addict and H & I chair. I’d like to thank everyone who has participated in H&I to make our
schedule work and kept their commitments. We have fulfilled all of our commitments for November 2014.
I sat down with James White at the men’s Diversion Center in Stafford and discussed taking meetings into their facility. It
went well. Paper work is being passed to people interested who have one year clean and no drug charge from 2013 forward.
No SS card is required and no finger prints until your paper work is approved.
Billy M. had a situation Thursday at Boxwood where he was urine tested by a staff member. Her reason for doing the test
was that he looked high the Saturday before. I spoke with Staff last night and they could not believe that happened and were
very angry. They looked at the book, identified the person and are going to address it in a staff meeting. They were very
apologetic and assured it would never happen again. One staff member said Billy is a better man than him because he
wouldn’t have done it. Billy’s reason was he cared more about carrying the message to the clients than his own feelings.
Thank you Billy! A reminder that we are not required to give urine to anyone.
I apologize that a report was never submitted to the area secretary for the month of October. I am responsible to make sure
that happens but was unaware until this morning that it was never submitted.
Our budget is $450.00 and balance is $290.00 for 2014.
Our next meeting will be next Sunday at 5:00pm at Thurman Brisben Homeless Shelter.
Thanks for allowing me to serve.
John C. 703-216-1795

C. Literature Chair Report: No report Given by Literature Chair, Corey C.
Dear Rappahannock Area,
Last month we sold $302.95 worth of literature with 272.95 paid in money orders and #30.00 covered by the H&I
Subcommittee budget.
$141.57 was reordered and received.
There is a new IP – An Introduction to NA Meetings that I would like to bring to everyone’s attention. I will be
ordering some more this month, but please let me know if you think your group will be adding them so I can be sure
to have enough.
In loving service,
Corey C

E. Public Relations (PR) Report: Given by PR Chair, Etta F.
Hi family,
Its good to be at the ASC and its good to be able to serve. The PR subcommittee is working on its first quarter activities. We
have been having some difficulties with securing PSA’s because of the turnover at the newspaper. This is the facility that
houses the radio stations. They are not returning our emails. We are sending somebody back down there to talk with him or
her. We are also looking for new venues to reach and have a contact with Snowden that wants our help that will be notified.
We are pulling together our mailing list so that we may contact area businesses about what we do and who we are. We are
also looking at the schedule for festivals and health fairs for the coming year. We were able to do one at the fairground
earlier this year and would like to have a presence here. We will have another GSR orientation at 3pm before the next area.
The receipts from the last area are in my red satchel and buried in boxes from my move, I will have to find them as I unpack
and will turn them in by next area hopefully.
In loving service ,
Etta F.

We now have consistent members who have confirmed their willingness to serve and participate in our group. At our group conscience we
discuss going over and possibly voting in group by-laws. Our intent is to create a service structure where service positions are rotated and
gives members the opportunity to serve such as not having 1 member stay in one position for a overly extended period of time. We have
filled our GSR and Alternate GSR positions
