CATTLE All Cattle Classes depend on the number of exhibits. Bull ages are calculated from the show Date.

Please note: Dress code should apply to all YH classes
Please be sure to state name of Young Handler and animal on entry form.
Young Handlers are to handle one animal entered (or eligible for entry) in one of the above showing classes.
Judging will be the manner and ability to handle and show Sheep, Pigs, Cattle and Goats and not on the conformation etc. of the animal.
Best Young Handler Cattle & Sheep trophies to be awarded to the first prize winners
The Best Goat Young Handler trophy for classes 108 and 109 will be judged in the Goat ring following the Goat classes.
The Best Pig Young Handler Trophy awarded by the Zeuner Family for Class 106 and 107 will be judged in the Pig ring following completion of judging of the Pig Classes.
Class 102 and 105 for Junior Stockpersons aged 12 - 14 years with the intention that some animal conformation will be expected and handlers will have some knowledge of their animal charge. The best handler in this class will be awarded the Virginia Lyon Cup for sheep and goats and the Jubilee Trophy for cattle.
The Judge and Show Organisers reserve the right to refuse an individual entry into these classes at the show ground on Health and Safety grounds.

Entries are invited for the Hand Spun and Fleece Classes at this year's show to be held at the Weald & Downland Open Living Museum, Singleton on the 16 July 2017.
Prizes awarded include rosettes for the first three placings in each class, plus prize money of £6 for the Champion Fleece.
Prize money will also be awarded as follows: 1st place £6, 2nd place £4, and 3rd place £2 in the Hand Spun Classes. Please complete the enclosed entry form.

Fleeces must be from pure breeds eligible in the Sheep classes.
No Shetland or Jacob fleeces to be entered in Classes 120 & 121
A fleece cannot be entered in more than one class
The entry number label is to be attached with a staple of fleece or "butchers" string.

HAND SPUN Judge: Mr Steve Kennett
All entries to be made from handspun yarn using fleece from a breed eligible for the Show either alone or combined with other fibers, such as silk, mohair or fleece from another breed. These may be plied, blended, or combined with other handspun yarn, but the whole entry to consist of no less than 50% Rare, Minority or Traditional Breed Wool.
Please specify if you used Handspun or Fleece. Class 122: An adult's or child's sweater, cardigan, jacket or slip over hand
knitted. Class 123: An adult’s or child’s sweater, hand spun and hand knitted woolen
sweater, cardigan, jacket or slipover. Class 124: A handwoven or hand knitted shawl, stole or scarf Class 125: A handwoven or hand knitted shawl, stole or scarf from handspun
yarn. Class 126: Any other item, e.g. hats, placemats, gloves. Class 127: Any rug or wall hanging Class 128: Any item made by a Youth under 18 years.
Highly Commended rosettes may be awarded at the judge’s discretion.

versatility of wool when combined with other fibers in a smooth, evenly spun standard plied yarn.
Class 133: Fancy Yarn Skein Class 134: Youth Skein – made by a Youth aged under 18 years. 100%

GENERAL INFORMATION
Any exhibitors intending to arrive the day before must have permission in advance and must not leave their livestock unattended over night!
Straw will be provided on cattle and pig lines only.
Washing facilities will be available near the Cattle lines.
Water points will be provided near the sheep and goat pens.
Exhibitors, Judges, and handlers must wear white coats in the ring and in the Grand Parade. Whilst in the animal lines all handlers must wear protective coats or overalls.
Animals to be penned by 9am and it is particularly requested that they remain on the show ground until the end of the Grand Parade with vehicle movement restricted until show ground is clear of visitors.
The Museum are working towards improvements to the livestock lines/walkways - giving restricted access to the public until after Judging has taken place.
No vehicle movement on the show ground after show opens to the public. In an emergency please notify a member of the event team to safely assist you to exit the site.
The Museum is a non-smoking site. Smoking is only permitted in the public car parks, beyond the ticket office.
Dogs must be kept on a short lead at all times.
