Dr. Sampath Parthasarathy, Ph.D., MBA is an internationally known cardiovascular scientist

who holds the UCF College of Medicine, Florida Hospital Endowed Chair in Cardiovascular Sciences.

He is also the Associate Dean for Research in University of Libya. Before joining the college, Burnett

School of Biomedical Sciences November of 2011.

Dr. Parthasarathy held the Klassen Chair of Cardiothoracic surgery at Ohio State University. Dr.

Parthasarathy is a recognized expert in lipids who is credited with the co-discovery of a major

cardiovascular concept the fact that oxidized LDL is involved in the initiation and progression of

atherosclerosis.

His areas of interest include atherosclerosis, diabetes, heart failure, Alzheimer disease, and

cardiovascular nutrition. Dr. Parthasarathy has a breadth of research experience and has published over

250 original articles, including a single author monograph on Modified Lipoproteins in the Pathogenesis

of Atherosclerosis.

He has won several meritorious awards and serves in numerous Editorial Boards. His work is

extensively funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and AHA and he belongs to an elite group

of the most highly cited authors worldwide in his field. He serves on numerous NIH committees.

presentation of approved papers. As a consequence, more than 500 papers have been collected from several

places. Around 40 percent of the papers were approved for presentation.

The main aim of workshop is to impart greater awareness about the issue of IPRs, which gained

a special importance for all the domains of socio-economic development. The participants of the

workshop will be able to understand the procedures to convert the research outcome into patents.

Sherine Mary W, Assistant Professor, Adithya Institute of technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu,

India. Mrs.W.Sherine Mary has Teaching experience: 9 Years 9 Months. Industry experience: 3 Years,

Area of Interest: Communication Systems, Wireless Communication. She has published her research

work IEEE, Springer and reputed journal. She also encouraged the students to take interest in the

seminar and make use of the seminar for research.

She explained what IPR is. She explained objectives of programme such as to encourage widespread

awareness and understanding of the role that intellectual property plays in fostering a creative and

innovative culture, to encourage protection of IP achievements through increased registration of rights.

Educate the participants on how to respond to infringements of rights including, To patent rights to

educate about the protection and enforcement of IPRs from infringements. to raise the level of IP

awareness in universities and colleges particularly among students and scholars and establish a link

between industry and academia on IPR.

She also shared Relevance and Importance of Intellectual Property Rights for States.
