As Yale Athlecs commemorated 100 years of the Yale Bowl the football team posted its best season in recent years. Finishing 8-2 overall, 5-2 in the Ivy League, the season fingly came down to The [final] Game for a share of the Ivy Title. While the end result wasn’t in the Bulldogs favor, their posion in the league and strong season show great progress. Many would agree this is thanks in large part to the work of senior running back Tyler Varga who scored a school-record 26 total touchdowns and averaged 6.1 yards per carry and 142 yards per game. Yale Volleyball won a record setting fifth straight Ivy Championship

and earned its fourth straight appearance in the NCAA

Tournament. The Bulldogs finished the season 18-8 overall and 12-

2 in the league. The team lost to the No. 14 Arizona Wildcats in the

first round. Notably, senior captain Mollie Rogers was named Ivy

League Player of the Year. After 12 seasons head coach Erin

Appleman has guided the Bulldogs to seven Ivy League

Championships, five NCAA Tournament appearances, five 20-plus

win seasons.

Senior forward Matt Townsend was

named a Rhodes Scholar, just the

fourth basketball player in Yale

history to earn the honor. Last year

he started a career-high 22 games

and finished fifth on the team in

scoring.

Senior running back Tyler Varga

received the Bushnell Cup as the Ivy

League Offensive Player of the Year.

Varga is third on Yale's career

rushing TD list with 31, fourth in

career rushing yards with 2,985 and

fifth with 529 rushing attempts in

just 24 games .

Yale Basketball stunned a crowd of nearly 10,000 people at

Gampel Pavilion on Friday, December 6th when Jack

Montague's three-pointer from the corner with 1.7 seconds

left lifted the Bulldogs to a shocking 45-44 victory over

defending national champion UConn. The loss snapped

UConn's streak of 68 consecutive victories against in-state

opponents.
