What is an Operable Unit?
During cleanup, a site can be divided into a number of
distinct areas depending on the complexity of the
problems associated with the site. These areas called
operable units may address geographic areas of a site,
specific site problems, or areas where a specific action is
required.
At Raymark, there are Nine (9) Operable Units.

Assistance Services for Communities (TASC) contract
Offers technical and educational assistance
Requires a Community Partner to assist with:
1) implementation of project
2) team outreach and recruitment
3) coordination with HQ contractor
Informational meetings (e.g. orientation)
Criteria for selection:
- document review
- commitment to program
- individual/group exercises
TRAINING
Classroom instruction with hands-on training exercises
Course examples: Pre-Employment Skills (e.g. resume
writing or aptitude/skill tests)
Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (40-hour HAZWOPER)
CPR/First Aid
No cost to training participants
JOB PLACEMENT
Requires EPA Contractors be willing to consider trained individuals for jobs on site
No employment guarantees
Job performance will be evaluated
Placement examples: truck drivers, material handlers, flaggers, etc.
