CLUB VIDEO

OBJECTIVE: To create an awareness video about

various issues in the world that have not been

given sufficient importance. The video also set

the agenda for the Rota year 2015-16.

OUTCOME: Information regarding 14 burning

issues were presented in the video. The video

was shot and edited by Rtr.Sabareesh

Arumugam along with his friend Mr. Nithin.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this project was to

participate in the Annual Day program of

Jeevarathni Foundation; which is a home for

orphans. School supplies and food grains were

also provided to the foundation.

OUTCOME: The members enthusiastically

participated in the annual day program, they

danced in the Zumba session and also

contributed to the in-house fundraiser.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of the project was to

spend quality time with the residents of Home

of Hope. OUTCOME: A small entertainment session was

held and the members volunteered by serving

lunch for the residents.

A need for a health camp was recognised and

this lead to the planning of the Dental Camp.

DENTAL CAMP

OBJECTIVE: To aid the residents with screening

and treatment of dental issues at Home of

Hope.

OUTCOME: E-City in association with SVDC

conducted a dental camp, screening 240

residents and treating 80 in a day long project.

The residents were also provided with required

medicines.

This lead to planning of Eye Camp at SO Care.

SO- CARE EYE

CAMP

DATE: MARCH 11, 2016

OBJECTIVE: To aid the children of

So-Care with an eye screening and

to follow it up with the required

treatment.

OUTCOME: In association with Solanki

Eye Hospital Bangalore, the children (80)

were screened. As a follow–up spectacles

were also provided to the children based

on the screening results.

SO-CARE - Skill

Development

DATE: November 1, 2015

OBJECTIVE: Having conducted life skills

program in the past years, the club decided to

re-visit So-Care for yet another session. So-Care

is a home for children of prisoners.

OUTCOME: Children were divided into three

groups to cater to their needs. The youngest

were engaged with games, the middle school

group with skill development activities and the

high school children were engaged in a serious

debate on burning societal issues and also

discussions regarding careers.

This lead to planning of a computer lab for the

children.

LAPTOPS

OBJECTIVE: To set up a computer lab at

So-Care.

OUTCOME: We approached

GSK to provide us with their

old laptops. They provided us

with 8 laptops. The

necessary OS and software

were installed by the

members and then handed

over to So-Care to start the

Computer lab.

RELIEF

DATE: DECEMBER 3, 2015

OUTCOME: In a span of 7 hours, Rupees 9000

was raised to buy relief materials. Blankets,

canned food, medicines and sanitary napkins

were bought and sent to Chennai with a well

wisher of the club Mr. Ajay Salanky.

OBJECTIVE: To aid the victims of the Chennai

Flood with food, medicines and other relief

material.

SPARROW

CONSERVATION

DATE: MARCH 27, 2016

AVENUE: COMMUNITY SERVICE

OBJECTIVE: To understand reasons for dwindling sparrow population

in Bangalore and also learn about the efforts of Mr. Edwin to

conserve the existing sparrows.

OUTCOME: Members visited Mr. Edwin’s residence, where he has

built homes for over 200 sparrows. We also learnt about simple home

made techniques which we could use to build shelters for sparrows.

This lead to a workshop on making Bird Feeders.

Service Above Self Marathon 2016 was

organized by Rotary clubs of District 3190 to

raise funds for the Rotary TEACH Mission.

Our members participated in the marathon

and 4 of them completed the 5k run.

MANOVIKASA

KENDRADATE: MAY 8, 2016

AVENUE: COMMUNITY SERVICE

OBJECTIVE: Members wished to learn about

what the State provides for physically and

mentally challenged orphans. A visit to

Mathrushree Manovikasa Kendra was

organised for the same. It is a home for over

100 such children.

OUTCOME: The visit was an overwhelming

experience for the members, as we learnt

about the sad living conditions and the less

than minimum that the State provides them

with. Future projects were discussed with the

founder of the centre.

CLUB SERVICE

From trying to make portraits of each other

to saving a burning city to playing a game of

wolf! The club this year has seen many

wonderful club service projects and

activities.

NEWSPAPAER

DRIVE

DATE: JANUARY 17, 2016

VENUE: Malleswaram, Bangalore

NO. OF MEMBERS: 25

AVENUE: CLUB SERVICE

OBJECTIVE: To raise funds for future

projects through a massive newspaper

drive.

OUTCOME: With the newspaper drive

stretching over 45 days, 2.4 tons of newspaper

were mobilised by members. The drive earned

the club INR 24000!

It also turned out to be a very impactful PR

project. Where members have collectively

spoken about Rotaract and our projects with

over 200 households.

JAIL VISIT

Objective: The visit to the jail was

aimed at creating awareness among

the members, about the living

conditions in a jail and educational

provisions provided to the inmates.

As we work so closely with children

of jail inmates, the members also

wished to have a dialogue with the

authorities to understand the

provisions given by the state to

these children.

Outcome: In our visit, the

members learnt about the poor

sanitation conditions in the

emergency rooms. In the kids

sections, an acute shortage of play

material was noticed. The

members decided to collect the

same for the kids and hand them

over during the next visit. A

dialogue with the authorities was

not possible and hence a direct

meeting with them was decided to

be scheduled.

SCREENING

AVENUE: CLUB SERVICE Documentary screening is an on goingproject of E-City from its inception. Theproject aims at educating members aboutvarious world issues through screening ofsignificant documentaries every fewmonths. Screenings are followed by livelydiscussions about the concerned topic.This year documentary regarding theSyrian conflict was screened.This lead to the Facebook awarenesscampaign about the Syrian Conflict.

OBJECTIVE: Projects related to Animal Welfare,

was one of the objectives of the club for this

Rota year. Dr. Prashanth was invited to the club

to address the raising concern for animal

welfare in today’s society.

OUTCOME: Dr. Prashnath Rajaram, a director of Wildlife

at Karuna, an animal rescue centre; spoke to the club of

the various challenges in Animal Welfare today and care

giving methods. This session enabled the members to

understand the issue and discuss possible projects.

This lead to a to a visit to Mr. Edwin’ Thomas’ s

residence who is an enthusiastic bird lover and has over

sparrows in his yard.

SECRET SANTA

E-City celebrated Christmas by playing

Secret Santa. The best part of the day ,was

when Santa arrived bearing gifts for all the

members! We thank Rtr. Sandeep Singh for

treating us with such a pleasant surprise and

being such a sport!

Dr. Anita DATE: JANUARY 10, 2016

OBJECTIVE: Depression being considered as the

modern Plague, the members of the club

wanted to learn about the condition and also

ways to support and help people suffering from

mental disorders and illnesses.

OUTCOME: Dr. Anita, who runs a special needs

school called “Mind Trees” was invited to the

club as a guest speaker. She spoke about

depression, its root cause, treatment and

emotional support required. Projects to build

awareness amongst parents regarding mental

disorders in children were also discussed.

This lead to a visit to Mind Roots.

As a fun activity, the club came up with its

own calendar for the year 2016. Groups of 2-

3 members chose a month and photos were

clicked, designed as they wanted. This

calendar was also given as a souvenir to

well wishers of the club.

OBJECTIVE: Inspired by the famous

Sherlock series, the members

decided to learn about the Mind

Palace which is a great memory aid.

OUTCOME: Rtr. Pradyumna

who has been working on

his mind palace taught the

members how to build

their own mind palaces

through a simple activity of

remembering a shopping

list!

OBJECTIVE: To help members over come stage

fright and improve presentation skills by

allowing them to present topics and issues that

they would like to share with the club.

OUTCOME: Inspired by Dr. Prashanth Rajaram’s

talk, the first presentation in this project was given

by Rtr. Sanjana. It was an informative session

where the members learnt about slaughter houses

and the cruelty towards animals.

WORKSHOP

OBJECTIVE: Inspired by Mr. Edwin Thomas the member’s

decided to help local birds battle the Bangalore summer

with small bird feeders installed at members residences.

To try and make a #DIY bird feeder with household

items.

OUTCOME: Lead by Rtr. Rudravajhala

Mukund, the members experimented

making a bird feeder. It was a fun

morning with a lot of learning Some

members have the bird feeder in their

terrace!

OBJECTIVE: The annual Intra club awards

aims at having a themed party for the

members. We also give away awards

recognising quirky but outstanding qualities

of members.

OUTCOME: The theme of this year was “Street”. The members

dressed up flaunting their ideas of street, be hip- hop, hippie or

desi! Every member was recognised with an award. This was

followed by a hearty lunch.

OBJECTIVE: To strengthen the bond amongst

the members as well as provide them with an

opportunity to experience RYLA in it’s true

spirit.

OUTCOME: The 2 day residential RYLA was a

grand success thanks to the efficient planning

and execution of the RYLA team. Hand picked

sessions, chosen by the members were held

with the support of our parent club. Impactful

sessions covered Emotional Quotient, Lateral

Thinking and De-Stressing techniques.

the club, the members visited her special needs

school Mind Roots to understand the different

teaching techniques and skills required to be a

special educator.

OUTCOME: It was an eye opening experience to

witness first hand the patience and perseverance

required to teach special needs children. We are

exploring how their therapies can be made

available to children at Mathrushree Manovikasa

OBJECTIVE: Members of the club who are also

music enthusiasts wanted to learn about

music as a profession. Hence a music workshop

with a student of KM Music Conservatory was

held.

OUTCOME: In a day long workshop the

members learnt about the history of music

development, the music industry today and

also basics of playing a musical instrument.

pleasure for E-City. This year we hosted the

Kerala IDYE Team from District 3201. We

showed them around Malleswaram and

OUTCOME: E-City connected with 11 clubs over

11 different countries and exchanged project

reports. The same was published in “Beyond” a

special edition of the club bulletin “E-Go”

Members of E-City participated in Rotasia

2016 at Sri Lanka. It being the first time out

of country for most of the team members, it

was a once in a life time experience. They

not only learnt about Rotaract but interacted

and connected with Rotaractors across the

world.

OBJECTIVE: To extend support to

Marpha Foundation, which is a

centre for extracurricular learning

for children of migrants in a remote

village in Nepal.

OUTCOME: The club mobilised 21 sets of

new clothes, blankets and children's

books, which were sent to Nepal along

with a local volunteer Ms. Samaiah

Sulthana.
