Programming For TV

TV Code List

1. Manually turn on the TV.

Find the three-digit code foryour TV in the code list below.

2. Press and hold the CODESEARCH button until the INDICATOR LIGHT lights, thenrelease the CODE SEARCHbutton.

3. Press and release the TV button(The INDICATOR LIGHT willblink then remain lit).

4. Enter the code using theNumber Buttons.

After your code is entered, the INDICATOR LIGHT will turn off.

5. Aim the remote at your TV andpress the OFF/ON button. YourTV should turn off.

Note: If your TV does not respond, try all thecodes for your brand. If the codes do not work, or your brand is not listed, try the CodeSearch method on page 9.

6. With your TV on, press CHAN+. If the TV responds,no further programming isrequired.

Battery InstallationYour Universal Remote requires 2 new AAA alkalinebatteries. To install the batteries:1. Remove the battery compartment cover.

2. Match the batteries to the + and - marks inside thebattery case, then insert the batteries.

3. Press and push the battery cover back into place.Note: Reprogramming may be required after batteries are removed.

INDICATOR LIGHT The Indicator Light flashes to show that the remote is working.

OFF/ONThe OFF/ON button operates the same as your original remoteNote: Some RCA, GE and ProScan models require you to pressthe device button to turn the device on and the OFF/ON buttonto turn the device off.

CODE SEARCHUsed to program the remote or to search through codes.

DBS/CABLE, VCR/DVD, TVThe DBS/CABLE, VCR/DVD, and TV buttons are used to selectthe device you want to control.

REW, PLAY, FF, REC, PAUSE, STOPThe REW, PLAY, FF, REC, PAUSE, and STOP buttons operate thesame as on your original VCR remote. You must press theRECORD button twice to begin recording.

TV/VCRThe TV/VCR button operates the TV/VCR function of your VCR.

ENTERThe ENTER button is used to complete channel selection for somebrands of TV. It is also used to complete the code entry process.

VOL & CHANThe VOL (Volume) and CHAN (Channel) buttons increase ordecrease the channel numbers or volume.

MUTETo MUTE the volume on the TV.

PREV CHPREV CH allows you to go to the previous channel you selected.Operates the same as Last Channel, Go Back or Recall button onyour original remote.

0-9The number buttons operate the same as on your original remote,and are used for entering device codes or channel numbers.

MENUThe MENU button calls up the TV set up menu.

Retrieving Codes

1. Press and hold CODE SEARCHuntil the INDICATOR LIGHTlights, then release CODESEARCH.

2. Press and release the devicebutton for the device’s codeyou are retrieving (TV,VCR/DVD, or DBS/CABLE).The INDICATOR LIGHT willblink once then remain lit.

3. Press and release CODESEARCH. The INDICATORLIGHT will turn off.

4. Starting with 0 on the keypad,press the number buttons inorder (0-9) until theINDICATOR LIGHT blinks.

5. The number which causes theINDICATOR LIGHT to blink isthe first digit of your code.

6. Repeat step 4 until you haveretrieved all three numbers inthe code.

If you need to find the three-digit code for your TV, VCR, DBS,DVD or Cable Box after your device is set-up using Code Search,use this procedure.

Programming With Code Search

1. Turn on the device you wish to program.

2. Press and hold CODE SEARCHuntil the INDICATOR LIGHTlights, then release CODESEARCH.

3. Press and release the device button for the device you areprogramming (TV, VCR/DVD orDBS/CABLE). The INDICATORLIGHT will blink once thenremain lit.

4. Press and release OFF/ON untilyour device turns off.

Important: You may have to pressOFF/ON up to 200 times.

5. When your device turns off,press the ENTER button, theINDICATOR LIGHT will go off.

If your TV, VCR, DVD, or Cable Box does not respond after youhave tried all the codes for your brand, or if your brand is notlisted, try searching for your code by following the steps below.

The TV Menu is used to make changes inthe TV settings such as setting color,channels, timers, etc.

Entering the TV Menu Mode:

1. Push the TV button on the remote.

2. Push the MENU button.

This puts the remote in TV MenuMode. The TV Menu should now bevisible on the television. TheINDICATOR LIGHT will blink continu-ously to indicate the remote is now inTV Menu Mode.

While in TV MENU these buttons will function as follows:

VOL UP/DOWN buttons will operate as CURSOR RIGHT/LEFT.

CHAN+/- keys will operate as CURSOR UP/DOWN.

For RCA, GE, ProScan TVs pushing theMENU button will select the highlighteditem. The numeric buttons may also beused to select the MENU choice.

Note: Not all functions in competitive models andbrands of televisions may be fully supported.

Exiting the TV Menu Mode:

To exit the Menu Mode and clear theTV screen push the TV button on theremote. The INDICATOR LIGHTshould go out indicating the remote isnow out of TV Menu Mode and willrevert to it’s normal mode of operation.

Note: The remote will automatically exit the TVMenu Mode after 10 seconds of inactivity with nobuttons being pushed.

Special notes:1. Because of the wide variety of menuformats, some experimenting may berequired.

2. SONY: Pressing the ENTER buttonwhile in menu mode returns to previousmenu.

3. ZENITH: Push the menu button asecond time to move from the SET-UPMENU to the VIDEO MENU.

Entering the DBS Menu Mode:

1. Push the DBS•CABLE button onthe remote.

2. Push the MENU key.

This puts the remote in DBS Menu Mode. The DBS Menu should now be visible on the television. The INDICATOR LIGHT will blink continuously to indicate the remote is now in DBS Menu Mode.

While in DBS MENU MODE these buttons will function as follows:

VOLUME UP/DOWN button will operate as CURSOR RIGHT/LEFT.

CH+/- button will operate as CURSOR UP/DOWN.

For RCA, GE, ProScan DBS systems pushing the MENU button willselect the highlighted item. Thenumeric buttons may also be usedto select the MENU choice. TheENTER key may also be used to select all menu choices.

Note: Not all functions in competitive models and brands of DBS systems may be fully supported.

Exiting the DBS Menu Mode: Push the DBS•CABLE button onthe remote. The INDICATOR LIGHT should go out indicating the remote is now out of DBS Menu Mode and will revert to it’s normal mode of operation.

Note: The remote will automatically exit the DBS Menu Mode after 10 seconds of inactivity with no keys being pushed.

Special notes: 1. Because of the wide variety ofmenu formats, some experimentingmay be required.

2. SONY: Pressing the ENTERbutton while in menu mode returnsto previous menu.

The DBS Menu is used to navigate thru the Guidescreens, to make changes in the DBS settings such aschannel lists, passwords, etc.

A) Replace the batteries with 2new AAA Alkalinebatteries.

B) Check that batteries areproperly installed.

A) Try all the codes listed foryour brand.

B) Try the Code Searchmethod (page 9).

Start Code Search over again tolocate the proper code.

Try the VCR code for yourbrand. Some combo units, however, may require both a TV and a VCR code for fulloperation.

As a safety feature on yourremote, you must press theREC button twice.

Due to some designs, the original remote will only perform these functions.

If your original remote requiredENTER after a channel, pressENTER after you select a channel.

A) Make sure you have newbatteries, and you are aiming your remote at your devices.

B) Check that batteries areproperly installed.(See page 3).

Note: Reprogramming may be required after batteries are removed.

Entering the DVD Menu Mode:

1. Push the VCR/DVD button on the remote.

2. Push the MENU key.

This puts the remote in DVD Menu Mode. The DVD Menu should now be visible on the television. The INDICATOR LIGHT will blink continuously toindicate the remote is now in DVD Menu Mode.

While in DVD MENU MODE these buttons will function as follows:

VOLUME UP/DOWN button will operate as CURSOR RIGHT/LEFT.

CH+/- button will operate as CURSOR UP/DOWN.

Pushing the ENTER button willselect the highlighted item. Thenumeric buttons may also be usedto select the MENU choice.

Note: Not all functions in competitive models and brands of DVD systems may be fully supported.
