Comprehensive Advancement Model -The Regis Catholic Schools Business Plan-

To respond to the nancial challenges that most Catholic schools face today, in January 2011, the RegisCatholic Schools Founda on engaged The Advancement Counsel (TAC). TAC provided an assessment of thecurrent RCS development e ff orts and programs. Since that ini al assessment nine months ago much hasbeen accomplished!

The top priority of Regis Catholic Schools is, and always has been, our students. We support the student learning environment byincorpora ng our Core Values into all aspects of RCS, and bymaking sure we have the resources necessary to prepare thestudents for leadership in church and society.

With the support of our pastors, families, and other stakeholders,we began implemen ng the Comprehensive Advancement Model . The Comprehensive Advancement Model is a provensuccessful Catholic school business plan.

Based on our Comprehensive Advancement Model, we have 10goals that we are focusing on today.

    1. Establishing a metable for Non Revenue and Revenueprogram implementa on

Advancement Model Funding Initiatives -Three Giving Programs-

We believe that everyone can help RegisCatholic Schools with a growing sense of shared responsibility.

Whether it is your prayers, spirit of

volunteerism, words in support of our Catholic schools, or your generous dona ons each of us has the ability to help shape the future of RCS.

For nancial support, RCS has establishedthree tax deduc ble giving programs. Thethree giving programs are as follows:

Regis Fund (Annual Fund) The Regis Fund is an annual giving program seeking contribu onsfrom Friends and Alumni who are not current families of RCS. TheRegis Fund was set up to help preserve the legacy of our Catholicschools, and keep Regis Catholic Schools thriving for the futureleaders of tomorrow. Charitable gi s, typically ranging from $20 to$10,000, made to the Regis Fund are considered unrestricted andenhance curriculum, materials, and programs for our students thatwe are unable to fund through other revenue sources.

Cost of Educa on Partnership Program (COEP) The Cost of Educa on Partnership is an annual giving programseeking contribu ons from Current RCS Families. The COEP

program informs and educates all RCS families about the actual costof educa on to a end Regis Catholic Schools. We hope eachcurrent RCS family will consider making a charitable commitmentabove and beyond the stated tui on to help meet the actual cost of their childs educa on. For 2011 2012, the COEP program receivedgi s ranging from $20 to $10,412. Whether your family can o ff er a$20 commitment or a $10,000 commitment, we thank you forpartnering with RCS in support of your childs educa on. Charitablegi s made to the COEP program are considered unrestricted andenhance curriculum, materials, and programs for our students thatwe are unable to fund through other revenue sources.

Targeted Major Gi s (TMG) The Regis Catholic Schools Founda on, in partnership with RCS, isinvolved in a Targeted Major Gi s program. The Targeted MajorGi s program is a giving program that seeks major gi s, typically$10,000 to $25,000 and more, that can be paid over a period of three to ve years. The charitable commitments realized from theTMG program will be recorded as either non restricted gi s to enhance the Founda ons nancial standing tosupport Regis Catholic Schools or restricted gi s in support of speci c Regis Catholic Schools programs orprojects as iden ed by donor(s) and approved by the System Administra on.

As I have go en older, I have realizedthat my Regis Catholic Schools

educa on has helped me to excel notonly academically but spiritually aswell.

In the past, RCS has had an Annual Appeal program. While good e ff ort and work was done to promote theannual appeal, the fund had limited success. As part of the Comprehensive Advancement Model and with thesupport of the RCS Founda on, we are introducing the Regis Fund to reinvigorate our prior annual fund e ff ort.

The Regis Fund is designed to engage alumni, past families, and other friends of RCS with a spirit of shared

commitment to keep our Catholic schools thriving for the future leaders of tomorrow. Current families

    will

    not

    be

solicited for the Regis Fund because they are asked to give to the Cost of Educa on Partnership Program.

As the funding of Catholic schools con nues to evolve, the overall cost of educa ng our children goes beyond themeans of our parishes and many of our families. The Regis Fund is an opportunity for you to help share theresponsibility within our Catholic community, to help educate our children, and to live our Core Values.

Why reinvigorate the Annual Fund? Last year the e ff orts of the Annual Fund generated$31,500 in revenue for RCS. This included generousdona ons from 250 alumni. While RCS is verygrateful to these past donors, we also realize there is

poten al for more alumni to be engaged andcommi ed in support of our schools.

Regis High School alone has nearly 5,000 alumni.Imagine if half or more of these alumni each gave$100 annually to the Regis Fund. This wouldgenerate $250,000 or more in addi onal and muchneeded revenue for our Catholic schools.

Where does the money go? Revenue from The Regis Fund enhances curriculum, materials, and programs for our students that we are

unable to fund through other revenue sources. Thishelps with all school improvement ini a ves.According to Joe Eisenhuth, Regis Catholic SchoolsPresident, The Regis Fund is a vital part of ourComprehensive Advancement Model and serves as acollec ve call to ac on for our alumni and friends. Asuccessful Regis Fund will help RCS respond to themoment in support of our students, sta ff and thefuture of our Catholic schools.

The Cost of Educa on Partnership (COEP) programwas launched in April of 2011 as an annual givingprogram for current families. Gi s can range from$20 through $10,000 for this program.

COEP Program: Two Purposes The COEP program is an annual program forcurrent families with two purposes. The rstpurpose serves to inform and educate familiesthat the tui on families are asked to pay issigni cantly less than the actual cost to educatetheir child. Regis Catholic Schools relies oncontribu ons by its suppor ng parishes, and othersources of revenue, to make up the real costdiff erence. The second purpose of the COEPprogram is to ask families to re ect on their own nancial situa on and if possible, consider acharitable contribu on to the COEP, as a means tomore fully partner with Regis Catholic Schools inthe cost of educa ng their child.

80 Families: $122,000 As of September 8th, we are pleased to announcethat 80 families so far have commi ed over$122,000 in charitable contribu ons to the COEP

program for the 2011 2012 school year, with gi sranging from $20 to $10,412. Thank you to all whohave responded, especially those of you whohave commi ed to more fully partner with RCS inthe cost of educa ng your child by choosing tomake a charitable contribu on.

Where is the money going? Revenue from the COEP program enhancescurriculum, materials, and programs for our

students that we are unable to fund through otherrevenue sources. We have already put yourinvestment in our COEP program to use, withsome of the money going towards technologyenhancements throughout all of the RCS schools.

Building a ComprehensiveAdvancement ProgramTui on Scholarship Program

Staff and Curriculum DevelopmentTechnology and Teaching MaterialsBuilding and Facility Improvements

The rst phase of the Targeted MajorGi s Program was the Pacese er Phase which was recently completed. This phasespanned from January through June 2011.RCS and RCS Founda on representa vesmet with donors individually and securedcommitments of $1.7 million primarily for

unrestricted use by RCS.The second phase of the Targeted MajorGi s program is the Leadership Phase. The Leadership Phase started in July 2011and will run through December 31, 2011.During this phase, RCS representa veswill meet with 50 or more poten aldonors seeking further support for ourTMG program.

The Bourgets and The Daniels Families

Co Chairs of the Targeted Major Gi s Program

As CoChairs of the Targeted Major Gi s Program, the Bourgets andthe Daniels are working with the RCS Founda on and the RCSAdvancement Team. They are currently mee ng with poten alcontributors seeking support for the TMG program.

Tina and Tony Bourget havefour children at Regis CatholicSchools. An alum of RegisCatholic Schools (83), Tonyappreciates rst hand that

RCS provides students withan ideal environment for preparing for college and beyond. Having beena bene ciary of the gi s that RCS o ff ers, Tony and Tina are commi edto ensuring that RCS con nues to provide excellent faith basededuca on, available and a ff ordable to all.

Amelia and Rick Daniels comefrom Catholic families that hadli le means. They were the kidswhose parents could not a ff ord

to send all the children in thefamily to Catholic schoolswithout assistance. They weregiven the opportunity to a endby the generosity of anonymousstrangers. Being shaped andblessed by that generosity and sacri ce, they came to RCS with acommitment to help RCS and other families.

A Note From the Bourgets and Daniels:

Through Gods grace, we lay a founda on as wise builders and each

of us should build with care. This verse from 1 Corinthians chapter 3verse 10 has been food for thought and a prayer for the four of us as weassist with the implementa on of the advancement program. Itreminds us of the sacri ces made by the sisters and parishes toestablish our schools, and the responsibility we have to build upon thatfounda on. This verse, together with our Core Values, will be ourguiding principles as we move forward.

They listed the ac vi es necessary toaccomplish the vision. At the second public session, the par cipants further developed the plan by establishingpriori es, objec ves, evidence, and a meline to chart our progress. Many thanks to the people who par cipatedfor their remarkable insights and contribu ons!

The accredita on process provides a framework for how we improve allareas of our school system and is a review of the quality of our school system. It is how many students, families, college recruiters, and government groups know with certainty that educa onal ins tu ons and

school systems provide a quality educa on.

AdvancED serves the worlds largest educa on community, including more than 27,000 public and privateschools and districts across the United States and in 69 countries that educate over 15 million students. Asthe global leader in advancing educa on excellence through accredita on and school improvement,AdvancED brings together more than 100 years of experience and the exper se of the two largest US basedaccredita on agencies. AdvancED will provide an e ff ec ve engine for systema zing and maximizing districtimprovement e ff orts.
