As of 30 June, 2014 Rotary had 1.207 million members world wide. This graphic serves as a reminder that we have mixed results for membership. Based on 10 year trends, you can see in this map how membership has changed. Membership in certain parts of the Rotary world has increased. In other parts of the Rotary world, membership has stopped growing and even some clubs are losing members entirely.

WE’VE LOST 30% of our membership base.

June 30 2018 = 989 members Past 6 Years lost 320 members = 25%

June 30 2018 = 1244 members Past 6 Years lost 166 members = 12%

RE-DISTRICTING OVERVIEW

• Reducing 545 Districts world wide to 350 (Aust 21 to 13) to reduce overheads ($16m).

• Create new, larger, more resourced and more support focused Districts.

• Economies of scale that allow for possible employment of professional facilitators/resources.

• Declutter role of DG to make more attractive for working people.

AREA CONCEPT - DISCUSSION PAPER 4

• 7 Areas with 12-14 clubs each led by Area Governor

• Area Management Committees – meet 6 times a year

• Area Conferences instead of District Conference.

District Governor largely strategic behind the scenes

• Area Training and Assemblies.

• Area Governors conduct the Official visits.

CONSULTATION FEEDBACK

Rather than a flatter simplified structure, it was seen as more complex.

Strong opposition to the de-centralization of District functions to Areas.

Concern that it would be more, not less expensive.

Difficult to find and appoint suitable Area Governors with expanded responsibilities – too demanding.

Fragment new District rather than unite it.

Confusion about roles and responsibilities.

OUTCOME

12 Areas – range 3-11clubs in each led by Area Governor

District Functions will remain centralised.

District Conference rather than 7 Area Conferences.

District Governor still conduct Official Visits in conjunction with Area Governors.

New District Leadership Board structure - including 2 Deputy Governors - Administration and Areas

Sometimes when we are angry we tend to be fatalistic and believe there is no possible way to resolve a conflict. Getting both employees to calm down and sees things with less emotion and more logic is the best first step to agreeing on a solution.

CONSTITUTION & BYLAWS

D9510 Constitution:Drafted and be lodged as an Incorporated Association in SA and then apply to ASIC for it to be a registerable association Australia-wide.

District 9510 Bylaws:Will incorporate changes as recommended by the Steering Committee and agreed to by joint G Train
