Chief Executive Officer and Presid,ent Sentry Insurance

Dale R Schuh was named dllef Executive Officer and President of Sentry Insurance on January 1, 1998. His career at Sentry spans nearly thirty years. He joined the firm as an intern in 1969. In 1972, he was employed as a full-time actuarial technician in the life and health area. His meteoric rise in the company included appointments as Vice President for planning (1978), Vice President and Actuary (1988), Senior Vice President marketing (1991), Executive Vice President and dllef Operating Officer (1995), and President and dllef Operating Officer (1996). A graduate of Lawrence University, Appleton, with a B.S. in mathematics, Mr. Schuh holds Directorships/ Officerships in numerous affiliated companies, including Dairyland Insurance (Oiairman of the Board, President and Director) , Middlesex Insurance (Oiairman of the Board and Director), Patriot General Insurance (Oiairman of the Board and Director) and Wauleco Inc. (Chairman of the Board and Director). He also enjoys membership in the Society of Actuaries and the American Academy·of Actuaries.

The Chancellor's Medallion and the UWSP Oremonial Mace were both hand-crafted by former Art Professor Henry Runke. The medallion was cast in a 14K yellow gold pendant in 1968 and contains a purple amethyst to represent the school colors. The four sectioned areas terminating near the center symbolize the four colleges of the university and terminate as prongs for the gem. The mace, carried by the grand marshal of academic processions, was completed in 1976 and has a square base on which important dates in the schools' history are recorded. The most prominent feature is the mace head which is a miniature of the cupola on Old Main, the school's symbol. The inside of the mace also includes a purple amethyst.
