REACT 2015 Justification
In Kenya alone, malaria accounts for20% cause of mortality and more than30% of all hospital admissions.
Prevention and control strategies tomitigate this burden has remained apublic health priority.
However, these campaigns have largelyfocused on rural populations thus under-estimating the burden and impact ininformal urban settlements.
REACT 2015 thus aims to sensitizeresidents of an informal urbansettlement, Nyalenda B in KisumuKenya, on simple and affordablepractices for the prevention and controlof Malaria.

REACT 2015 Activities
REACT 2015 targets 323 individuals ofNyalenda B community and will beimplemented by project team membersdivided in the areas of health education, distribution of insecticide treated nets, clearing of bushes and stagnant water.
Improper disposal of waste especiallyinorganic (Paper bags/Plastics etc) has ledto clogging of the already poor drainagesystems. The surface of this waste hascreated an ideal nesting ground forAnopheles Mosquitoes hence the malariaprevalence.
We shall attempt to open drainage andproperly dispose of the waste, cut bushescoupled with literature on proper wastedisposal, malaria prevention &control/treatment and Management.
