Summer Break Camps are offered weekly from June 13 through August 19, 2016.

Space is limited, so register today!

How to Register

Easy online registration is available for all camps at www.smgov.net/reserve. Priority online

registration for Santa Monica Residents runs March 2 (6 am) through March 8, 2016.

Non-resident registration opens March 9. To download a registration form, visit

www.smgov.net/classes. Registration forms are accepted via email, fax, mail, or drop off.

Refunds & Transfers

A $15.00 processing fee applies for each activity session refunded. Refund/transfer requests must be

made in writing to the program supervisor in person or by fax, mail, or email. Class refunds and

transfers will be issued only if requested within one day after the first class meeting. Camp refunds

will only be issued with medical documentation or if requested within 5 calendar days prior to the

first meeting. Refunds will be prorated.

Cancellations

A full refund will be granted if we cancel the program. All dates, times, locations, and instructors are

subject to change without notice. We reserve the right to combine classes as needed or cancel

programs due to insufficient enrollment. Due to the organizational needs of group classes, we are

not able to offer makeups for days missed by the student.

Material Fees are payable to the instructor in cash on the first day of class. Material fees are not

discountable or refundable.

Calling all sports fans…on your mark, get set, build! Celebrate the Olympics with cool models of sports from

cycling to soccer, basketball to gymnastics. Take a break from the heat and compete indoors to set your own

Brick Olympic records with our exciting sports-themed challenges! We’ll post the winners on our own

“Medal Tally” board and award winners with Bricks 4 Kidz medals. $15 material fee.


Star Wars Combo: Lego Star Wars and Claymation Galaxy (7-14 yrs)

Take your imagination to a galaxy far, far away! We will supply the Legos and clay for you to create your

own Star Wars movie using the art of stop-motion-animation. The ideas will be yours, the sets will be built by

you, and you will operate the iPods to bring your masterpieces to the big screen. All projects will be available

Young Jedi will explore worlds far, far away and engineering principles right in front of them. Defeat the

Empire by designing and refining Lego X-Wings, R2-units, and settlements on far-flung edges of the galaxy.

Let your imagination take flight as we join Sir Isaac Newton and prepare for aerospace adventures with his

laws of motion. Design, build, and test fantastic flying creations including kites, planes, rockets, hovercrafts,

and more. Learn all about the Wright brothers and their numerous contributions to aviation. Discover the star

secrets of the universe with your own planisphere. Experiment with the laws of physics, gravity and motion

during this amazing week of hands-on fun! Please bring a snack, water, and lunch (for full day camp).

Adventures in Science (6-11 yrs)



Learn about your surrounding environment and how science will help us protect our planet. Discover how to

send secret messages to your friends using special codes. Explore how Newton’s laws are at work in your

favorite sport. You will even become a young astronaut for a day while exploring the mysteries of the solar

system. From the depths of the earth to the heights of the solar system, this will be one adventurous week of

science! Please bring a snack, water, and lunch (for full day camp). $30 material fee for half day, $40 material

FUN-GINEERING, Mix-Ups & More! (6-11 yrs)



Put on your engineer’s hat to see how science is used to build skyscrapers, bridges, and tunnels. Use simple

machines to help lift weights and even launch marshmallows. Spend a day being a true Mad Scientist as you

learn about chemical reactions that you might encounter in your daily life. See how film captures light to store

images and how filmmakers make images move during “Shutterbugs” day. Walk on the wild side and explore

the nature of birds, beasts, and bugs. Please bring a snack, water, and lunch (for full day camp). $30 material

The program pushes kids past their usual limitations and helps them reach their highest fitness goals. The camp focuses on long distance running, parachute sprinting, hand and eye coordination techniques, agility, and resistance training using the TRX body-weight exercise straps along with the RIP trainer exercise resistance pole, and mixed martial arts training. Play to Your Health is bringing the fun this summer in an action packed sports and craft camp! Every day,

campers will challenge their bodies with new sports, games and obstacle courses, as well as develop their

growing minds with educational arts and crafts projects. Campers of all skill levels will enjoy a non-

competitive, non-intimidating introduction to sports. Cooling down with arts and science ensures all campers

Summer Stretch Yoga & Art (3-8 yrs) Instructor: Happy Kid Yoga Marine Park (indoor and outdoor) in June / Memorial Park Laurel Room in July and August Balance like a palm tree, roar like a lion, and stretch like a giraffe in this fun-filled yoga camp! Camp begins with a 40 minute class where students learn new poses and breathing techniques each day on an imaginary yoga adventure. Class ends by relaxing with peaceful music. After class, the excitement continues with yoga stories and games, a break for lunch, and a creative take-home art activity. Art projects are yoga themed and will relate to the poses learned that day. Fun activities throughout the week include parachute games, treasure hunts, outdoor craft time, face painting, and more!
