THE MALDIVES (The pearls of the Indian Ocean)

The Maldives is a country made of a group of tropical islands with swaying palm trees, pure white beaches and brilliant turquoise lagoons. It's a major destination for scuba divers, who come for the fabulous coral reefs and the wealth of marine life. The country stretches 820 km north to south and 120 km east to west. Out of the incredibly large number of islands only 200 islands are inhabited, with 44 islands adapted as exclusive resort islands. When to Visit the Maldives If you're looking for a few extra hours of sunshine then you should visit the Maldives between December and April, which is the dry season. This is the high season, however, and resorts can be fully booked and prices are higher than the rest of the year. The Christmas-New Year period is the busiest and most expensive part of the high season. Between May and November it's still warm, but the skies can be cloudy, humidity is higher and rain is more likely. This is the low season, and there are fewer tourists and prices are lower. The transition months of November and April are said to be associated with increased water clarity and better visibility for divers.Questions:1. The Maldives is a small country in the _____.

2. How many inhabited islands are there in the Maldives?a. 44 b. 120c. 180 d. 200

3. The Maldives is famous for its _____.A. beaches b. buildingsc. malls d. trees

4. If you want to travel to the Maldives for a cheaper price, you should go in _____.a. November b. Decemberc. January d. February

Hadrian's Wall Path National Trail runs for 84 miles (135kms) across the north of England linking Wallsend near Newcastle-upon-Tyne with Bowness-on-Solway on the west coast of Cumbria. Once it leaves the busy area of Tyneside the path closely follows the historic line of the Roman wall and therefore lies within a World Heritage Site for much of its length. Some of Roman Britain’s most important sites, such as the forts at Housteads and Vindolanda, lie on or close to the Wall, and we will allow time to visit these and other major historical sites.

In addition to the obvious interest provided by Hadrian’s Wall, much of which is remarkably intact, the route enjoys some amazing North Pennine scenery, particularly in the middle section around Steel Rigg and Sewing shields Crags. Hadrian’s Wall can be seen marching into the distance, taking in its stride a series of small hills, each of which provides beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Hadrian’s Wall Path offers a unique opportunity to combine the satisfaction of walking coast to coast with an exciting historical theme.
