Take into account the following:

SCANNING

You scan a text when you need to find specific information; so,

› you do not need to read every word but to move your eyes quickly looking for the information you need. For example, a reader might scan a page of a newspaper simply to see what time a movie starts.

SKIMMING

You skim a text when you need to find out the topic and the main idea; so, you have to:

› Read quicky. Don´t read every word.› Read the first and last two lines of each

paragraph.› Look at the tittles, photos and diagrams

PREVIEWING

Making predictions: - Say what will the text be about

before actually reading it. Anticipation:- The ability of activating prior

knowledge in order to help the text become comprehensible.

INFERRING

- Understand a certain aspect of the text based on the meaning of the rest of the information.

- It is necessary to use ideas stated in the text plus your personal experience.

- You go farther than the text itself.

CONTENT CLUES

- When you have to infer the meaning of a new word you may take into account the context in which it appears.

- It might be the external context or the internal structure of the word.

PREDINCTING OUTCOMES

Consists of establishing the end of an incomplete fragment based on the sequence of events.

HEALTHY EATING!• Do you want to be healthy?

Perhaps you need to go on a diet. Start the day by drinking a glas of water or orange juice…but not coffee or tea, and not milk or sugar, please.

• For lunch, don´t eat any fried foods…French fries, or burgers for example…some grilled fish, perhaps with some gree vegetables, is really good for you!

• Do you want some pasta for lunch? OK, but don´t put any cheese of tomato sauce on the top

• Don´t eat any desserts than contain cream, butter or chocolate!!

• If you´re still hungry, eaat some fruit, or have some nuts- they´re really healthy!

• And to drink… just water! It doesn´t have any calories so you can drink as much as you want.

• For dinner, have some soup and bread. (But remembeer no butter!) It´s simple… but delicious.
