An unusual project of the
National Library of Viktor
Kramarenko won the international
architectural exhibition in
1988. But then he was deemed too futuristic and time-consuming, and came to the realization only
after fifteen years
The main highlight of the library complex spatial-
volumetric form rhombicuboctahedron.
This is the most ambitious construction project of Minsk in the
last two decades. To at least approximately to
imagine the scale of the building, imagine that at
each of the three floors of the library can
accommodate two football fields
This is the fastest library in the world. For delivery of
books uses its own railway and telelift. In the library there
is a book Museum with unique exhibits of the
fourteenth century. On the roof of the crystal at a height
of 72 meters is an observation deck, accessible
by one of the panoramic elevators
In addition the library offers a restaurant, a snack bar, a
spacious Internet centre, the international
press center and several
reception halls for foreign
delegations
