APOSTOLIC EXHORTATION GAUDETEET EXSULTATE
OF THE HOLY FATHER FRANCIS
ON THE CALL TO HOLINESS IN TODAY’S WORLD
continued
17. At times, life presents great challenges. Through them, the Lord calls us anew to
a conversion that can make his grace more evident in our lives, “in order that we
may share his holiness” (Heb 12:10). At other times, we need only find a more
perfect way of doing what we are already doing: “There are inspirations that tend
solely to perfect in an extraordinary way the ordinary things we do in life”.[15] When
Cardinal François-Xavier Nguyên van Thuân was imprisoned, he refused to waste
time waiting for the day he would be set free. Instead, he chose “to live the present
moment, filling it to the brim with love”. He decided: “I will seize the occasions that
present themselves every day; I will accomplish ordinary actions in an extraordinary
way”.[16]
18. In this way, led by God’s grace, we shape by many small gestures the holiness
God has willed for us, not as men and women sufficient unto ourselves but rather
“as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” (1 Pet 4:10). The New Zealand
bishops rightly teach us that we are capable of loving with the Lord’s unconditional
love, because the risen Lord shares his powerful life with our fragile lives: “His love
set no limits and, once given, was never taken back. It was unconditional and
remained faithful. To love like that is not easy because we are often so weak. But just
to try to love as Christ loved us shows that Christ shares his own risen life with us. In
this way, our lives demonstrate his power at work – even in the midst of human
weakness”.[17]

Attention Parishioners - Guardian Angels Church The Building Commission has advised that construction of the
long awaited parking lot, circle driveway and sidewalks will
finally be commencing on August 7th
• This project is expected to
last for 5 to 6 weeks until September 7th
or 14th
• The planting of
landscaping trees and shrubs will take place in the fall. This will
be a very difficult time for parishioners entering the church for
Mass, the Adoration Chapel, admittance to the church office, for
services provided by St. Vincent de Paul and for any funerals
scheduled during this time. Parking will be mostly affected.
The complete parking lot on the old school site will be closed
along with the complete driving circle entrance to the church,
church office, Adoration Chapel and St. Vincent de Paul Food
Bank.
These alternate arrangements will be required to gain access
where required:
- Church Office - visitors to office to enter, parking on
Penetang Street, with entrance to church from Baptismal
entrance and through church to office entrance near
Chapel. The Baptismal entrance will be open from 10:00 am
to 11:30 am, closed for lunch from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm and
open from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Monday to Friday.
- Society of St. Vincent de Paul - Vinnie's as well as the Food
Bank will be closed during the construction and will reopen
in September.
- Good Food Box - delivery of produce and clients coming to
pick up produce to enter off Penetang Street church hall
entrance
- Funerals - Arrangements have been made with Mundell's for
access to church for funerals with coffin from West Street
through front doors
- Parking for Saturday and Sunday Masses - parking at
Mundell's or Lion's Oval with entrance through doors on
Penetang Street side or front door on West Street side.
Chairs will also be set up in the Church Hall with audio video
from the main floor with Eucharist served at the appropriate
time. This is to accommodate those having difficulty getting
into the church who could enter the Church Hall from the
Penetang Street entrance.
- Parking for Weekday Masses - parking on Penetang Street,
Mundell's if there is no funeral or visitations going on or
(Lion's Oval until August 31st
). When school commences no
parking in Lion's Oval for the noon Mass.
- Adoration Chapel - The Adoration Chapel will be closed
during the period of construction and will reopen in
September.
Your full cooperation is requested during the period of
construction. The end result will be a parking lot with more
coordinated parking.
