Dear Incoming 4th Grade Parents, I am excited to formally introduce myself as your child’s fourth grade teacher. Fourth grade is a very important year. I look forward to working with each of you to make next year successful! Attached you will find the supply list and summer work for Math and ELA. Spread out the work throughout the summer. Do not wait until the last week to complete the packet. The Math packet includes concepts your child should be comfortable completing independently. Please continue to work on multiplication facts over the summer. I will post “How To” videos on Google Classroom for review of the material in the packet. For the ELA portion of the packet, your child will read Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing, by Judy Blume. The book was sent home with this packet. Please complete the vocabulary and comprehension page for each chapter. At the end of the packet, you will see Engage with the Text pages. Please choose 3 of these to complete and return. I have also included a New York State Webquest. I have printed out the page for your child to record their answers. I have also posted the webquest on Google Classroom using Google Forms. Dear Incoming 4th Grade Parents, 

 

I am excited to formally introduce myself as your child’s fourth grade teacher. Fourth grade is a very important 

year. I look forward to working with each of you to make next year successful!  

 

Attached you will find the supply list and summer work for Math and ELA.  

 

Spread out the work throughout the summer. Do not wait until the last week to complete the packet.  

 

● The Math packet includes concepts your child should be comfortable completing independently. Please 

continue to work on multiplication facts over the summer.  

○ I will post “How To” videos on Google Classroom for review of the material in the packet. 

 

● For the ELA portion of the packet, your child will read Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing, by Judy Blume. 

The book was sent home with this packet. Please complete the vocabulary and comprehension page for 

each chapter. 

○ At the end of the packet, you will see Engage with the Text pages. Please choose 3 of these to 

complete and return. 

 

● I have also included a New York State Webquest. I have printed out the page for your child to record 

their answers. I have also posted the webquest on Google Classroom using Google Forms. You can 

choose which format your child will complete (either the paper or digital). 

 

● Reading log. In addition to reading Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing, the children should also read 

independently (1 more fiction and 2 informational). Please log the books you read on the attached book 

log. We will continue to use this log throughout the year.
