Dear Incoming 4th Grade Parents,
I am excited to formally introduce myself as your child’s fourth grade teacher. Fourth grade is a very important
year. I look forward to working with each of you to make next year successful!
Attached you will find the supply list and summer work for Math and ELA.
Spread out the work throughout the summer. Do not wait until the last week to complete the packet.
● The Math packet includes concepts your child should be comfortable completing independently. Please
continue to work on multiplication facts over the summer.
○ I will post “How To” videos on Google Classroom for review of the material in the packet.
● For the ELA portion of the packet, your child will read Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing, by Judy Blume.
The book was sent home with this packet. Please complete the vocabulary and comprehension page for
each chapter.
○ At the end of the packet, you will see Engage with the Text pages. Please choose 3 of these to
complete and return.
● I have also included a New York State Webquest. I have printed out the page for your child to record
their answers. I have also posted the webquest on Google Classroom using Google Forms. You can
choose which format your child will complete (either the paper or digital).
● Reading log. In addition to reading Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing, the children should also read
independently (1 more fiction and 2 informational). Please log the books you read on the attached book
log. We will continue to use this log throughout the year.
○ Getepic is a great resource for books. You can use your account with Mrs. Magno or you can
join my class using your school email address and our class code: jsp3682
○ You can continue to use Raz-Kids
○ Feel free to use the Google doc on Google Classroom.
Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns at [email protected]
See you in September!
Miss Ciminelli
