NEWSNew home sales bounced back in March to maintain the modest recovery already underway, according to the latest monthly survey of Australia’s larger building firms.

The HIA New Home Sales report showed that total seasonally adjusted new home sales increased by 4.2 per cent in March 2013, taking sales back to volumes comparable to 12 months ago.

In the month of March new detached house sales increased by 3.9 per cent following a 4.0 per cent decline in February. Sales of multi-unit dwellings rose by 5.6 per cent in March, after dropping by 11.0 per cent in February.

Around the country, detached house sales increased by 16.3 per cent in New South Wales, 7.3 per cent in Victoria, 3.2 per cent in Queensland and 5.7 per cent in South Australia.

Sales fell by 5.6 per cent in Western Australia, but that result followed three consecutive rises.

DAY ONE SELL OUT FOR NEW LAND AT SHELL COVE

The appeal of living at Australand’s Shell Cove beachside community continues to resonate with buyers as the latest land release on Caravel Crescent achieves a stunning 100 per cent sell out.

Shell Cove has continued to achieve strong sales this year with recent releases on Links Drive and Shallows Drive selling 50 per cent and 90 per cent respectively in their first weekend of release.

Australand NSW Residential Division General Manager Nigel Edgar said the sell out of land lots on Caravel Crescent is a clear indication of the continuing strong demand for the growing seaside community.

“The Caravel Crescent release generated a large amount of interest from buyers and included a number of highly sought after level to gently sloping lots as well as two duplex lots. Caravel Crescent is surrounded by parklands and cycleways and is just minutes from Shellharbour Village,” Mr Edgar said.

“To achieve a 100 per cent sell out on the first day of release is further evidence that buyers recognise the broader lifestyle benefits of creating a home in this majestic coastal location.

“The popularity of these lots was likely also due in part to their close proximity to the future Shell Cove Boat Harbour, which will be one of the most significant pieces of infrastructure delivered in coastal NSW for 30 years.”

The Shell Cove Boat Harbour has already been recognised for excellence in concept design, recently winning the Concept Design Award at the 2012 UDIA NSW Austral Bricks Awards for Excellence.

Shell Cove is a picturesque beachside community located just 21 kilometres south of Wollongong. The community offers a relaxed and active coastal lifestyle with over 60 hectares of open spaces, including bush reserves, waterways and landscaped parks.

“It’s not surprising that buyers are being drawn to the area. The community offers a lifestyle that is second to none,” Mr Edgar said.
