There are three Donor IDs

Donor ID unique to the Registry database – nnnnn

Donor ID identifiable to the EDR = DYY-nnnn

Donor ID identifiable to NOMS prior to the EDR introduction

E.g. Q/N/V/S/W/Z/O 00000-99999 – consecutive numeric order by state of retrieval

E.g. QX/NX/VX/SX/WX/ZX 000- Retrospective 01-Jan-1989 – 31-Mar-1989

Counting Methodology

Assist in comparing data at an international level

Easier to understand

• Excluded pancreas islets (counted as tissue)

• Clearly defined counts to tally Organs Transplanted and Organ Transplant Procedures

Organs Transplanted

Each organ is counted individually, regardless of the type of transplantation performed.

• Two lungs retrieved from a single donor and later transplanted, previously counted as 1 organ transplanted, now counts as 2;

• One liver retrieved, split and transplanted into two recipients, previously counted as 2 organ transplanted, now counts as 1; and

• Heart-lung (double) retrieved and transplanted as a block, previously counted as 1 organ transplanted, now counts as 3 (one heart, one left lung and one right lung).

Organ Transplantation Procedures

The transplantation of one or more solid organ(s) from a deceased donor to a recipient, reported by organ type

• the procedure includes transplantation of the corresponding organ (same organ type) with or without the simultaneous transplant of a different organ

The total number of transplantation procedures (all combinations) is the sum of transplantation procedures, by organ type, undertaken in any given period
