Biography: Willo Davis Roberts

Willo Davis Roberts was born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota on May 29, 1928. Willo was best known for her great childrens’ mystery books. After a family dairy farm business filature she worked in a hospital and started writing for extra money. At the very beginning she wrote for adults, after that she wrote for children. She published 99 books in her lifetime. She won about 2 Mark Twain awards for some of her books. When she died on November 19, 2004 she had been working on her 100th novel.

SummaryRebel is about a rebel ,Amanda Jane Keeling or so called Rebel, and her friend Moses Adams. Rebel comes to help her Grandmother, Gram, with her newly bought house for college renters. But aside from helping Gram and Moses's grandma, Viola. She and Moses are finding out a mystery. With robbers and counterfeit money. Will they catch these thieves?

CharactersMain Characters-

Rebel Keeling (Amanda Jane Keeling): Is really a rebel. She is brave and confident. She is not scared to try to do something dangerous. She is practically a regular 14 year old teenage girl just like you and me. Although she is very tall for her age.

Moses Adams: Moses is a brave boy who is Rebel’s friend. Moses is about six foot six (very tall), 15 years old, has glasses, and is a kind; good friend. He was ready to solve the mystery at first but later becomes a little worried especially since they had not called the police.

Minor Characters-

Gram Keeling- Is a rebel like her grandchild. She is ready for anything. An enthusiastic old lady and a wonderful grandmother to Rebel.

Viola Adams- Is also a rebel, ready for anything, and enthusiastic. She is Moses’s grandmother and helped Rebel’s grandmother with the new house Gram bought.

The counterfeiters: 3 boys 1 girl- The counterfeiters are the real crooks in this novel and yes they are college students.

PlotIntroduction

• Meet Rebel and her protective parents.• Meet Gram her rebellious grandmother.• Setting: A newly bought old Victorian house.

Rising action• While Moses and Rebel are out walking the dogs they see someone steal from a

convenience store.• Rebel meets Viola, Moses’s grandma.• Tiger, Viola’s dog, goes chasing a thief and gets lost.• Rebel finds Tiger.• Rebel and Moses start figuring out the mystery.• Rebel and Moses start renting rooms in their Grandma’s house so they can try to

find the counterfeiters.Climax

• Moses and Rebel call Moses’s uncle, a policeman because the counterfeiters come back to get their jacket and fake money.

Falling Action• Rebel does not get to go to Europe with her family because she has to go to court

to testify against the counterfeiters.• Viola and Gram promise to take her and Moses on a caravanning trip in Europe the

next summer if Rebel is good for a whole year.

I gave Rebel 5 stars because it was a mystery book and it always got you thinking of what would happen next. I also really like mystery books. It was very detailed and explained well.
