Nehemiah 1:1-3, 2:1-8

Rebuilding the Walls

• In 445 B.C., Nehemiah led the way – Neh. 2:17-20

• Against severe opposition – Neh. 4:1-23, Neh. 6:1-14

• Yet the Israelites finished the wall with God’s help – Neh. 6:15-16

Restoring the People

• The Law was read, and sins confessed – Neh. 9:32-38

• The wall was dedicated – Neh. 12:27-30, 43

• Yet the people still needed to be taught & repent – Neh. 13:15-27

What We Can Take

• You don’t have to be “someone special” to make a difference – Acts 8:1-5

• Great works can start with just one person – Phil. 1:12-14

• The Lord wants us to be set apart – 1 Pet. 1:13-16

Conclusion

After seventy years of captivity, the Israelites coming back had more than just physical rebuilding to do. They had to recognize their spiritual condition and renew their relationship with the Lord. In your life, have you been reconciled to God?
