Rebuilding Ancient Ruins

Scriptural Reference: Genesis 1:26-2; 1-6

In Genesis 1:1-25, God demonstrated how to rebuild ancient ruins by commanding light to shine

out of the darkness and bringing order out of chaos. At that time, there were no cities or

skyscrapers, no airplanes, trains or superhighways. That will be the responsibility of Man, God’s

regent on the earth. So, in Genesis 1:26, God created mankind and gave him dominion to

commence further development of the earth from his rudimentary stage to his fully developed

stage, in modern times.

In no time, Man committed high treason against God and he was driven from pleasure into pain

and from glory to shame. God destroyed the earth and the cities of the earth by a deluge of rain.

In the midst of it all, one man, and by extension his household found grace in the sight of God.

Thereafter, the rebuilding process began and the first to rebuild were the likes of Nimrod, the

mighty hunter who possibly spearheaded the building of the Tower of Babel [Genesis 10:1-12;

Genesis 11:1-9]. In a sense, we can say the history of the world has been full of nations rising and

falling, empires rising and empires failing. Prophet Jeremiah captures the building and

rebuilding of the ancient ruins in Jeremiah 4:19-26.

God's Pattern For Rebuilding Ancient Ruins

True and genuine nation builders can only succeed in their assignment by following God’s

example [Isaiah 51:1-6]. He has the pattern and prototype, He knows how to rebuild ancient

ruins, thus we don't need to reinvent the wheel. Righteousness exalts a nation, therefore it is

only to the saved and the righteous that God will give and commit His word for the rebuilding

exercise [Isaiah 51:15-16].

For six days now, we have been waiting on the Lord and meeting daily to pray but except we fully

understand the chosen fast of God, it will be an exercise in futility. Any fast that does not

culminate in the rebuilding process of the people and nation is a hunger strike [Isaiah 58:1-12.

Cf. Isaiah 61:1-11]. The redemption and rebuilding process of the nations began the day Jesus

came into the Synagogue in Nazareth and announced "this word is fulfilled in your hearing" [Luke

4:16-22].

Is a nation built by mere words and sloganeering of political pundits who promise change before

they get into power and change the promise once they get there? What exactly is our God-given

assignment? To progress we must answer some critical questions,

• What is your appointed mountain?

• How do you maintain the impact on that mountain?

Whenever God gives you your appointed mountain He gives you the authority to speak to it so

that your impact can be felt on that mountain. "All authority has been given to me in heaven and

on earth: Go therefore to your appointed mountain and make disciples of all the nations" [Ezekiel

36:1-8]. Whenever you speak from your power slot, the whole earth responds to the word of

power committed to your heart and mouth [Deuteronomy 32:1-4; I Samuel 3:19-4:1; Jeremiah

22:29].

What then is the challenge we face? Jesus obtained the victory for us but He is not here on earth

to enforce it. He has entrusted that to us, His body; He is the Head. Heads only do well if their

bodies stay connected to them, and bodies only succeed when they are connected and obedient

to the head. For us to engage in bringing His Kingdom on earth, transforming cities and nations,

the Head of the church, Jesus, must have communion directly with each individual part of the

body so that the body can do its part and function properly. Without the body, Christ the Head

has no vehicle to put into action His thoughts, concepts, ideologies, insights, precepts,

philosophies and His strategies. He prophetically speaks these things into the atmosphere of the

church, looking for those who will listen and put His plans into operation [Isaiah 6:1-8].

Why did the Seraphim in v7 only touch the mouth of Isaiah with the live coal that he took with

the tongs from the altar? [Isaiah 49:1-2. Cf. Jeremiah 1:4-10]. Again why did the Lord touch

Jeremiah’s and focus on Ezekiel's mouth? [Ezekiel 3:1-11; 24-27]. The mouth is the centre-piece,

perhaps the most vital organ of the body for spiritual warfare in and for the entire universe. It is

the organ of the body that we use to pray, to preach, to prophesy, to testify, to praise and to

worship God. Once the enemy gets hold of your mouth, you have lost your impact as well as the

ability to creatively speak into the heart and soul of a nation for its redemption and

transformation [II Chronicles 18:18-24].
