Initiate Campaign:To correct this defect, Yamaha is replacing the fuel line hoses on affected units.
M2009-032R
MODEL: 2005 FZS600T, YZFR1T, AND FJR1300TTITLE: Engine Idling
SubjectIn affected motorcycles, an improperly designed Throttle Position Sensor could cause an
intermittently unstable idle. This could cause the engine to stall at low speed operation possibly resulting in a crash or injury.
Initiate Campaign:Yamaha is initiating a factory modification campaign. Unmodified affected motorcycles must
have the TPS replaced with a new one.
AT2010-003R
MODEL: 2008-2010 YFM5FG YFM7FGTITLE: Steering Column
SubjectIn affected ATVs, the steering column support assembly can crack near the mounting area
under certain riding conditions due to insufficient strength. This could result in reduced steering ability which could cause loss of control and result in injury or death.
Initiate Campaign:
Yamaha is initiating a factory modification campaign. This campaign will replace the original aluminum steering column support with a steal one that has increased strength.
M2010-010R
MODEL: 2009 VMX17Y/YCTITLE: APS/TPS Wiring
SubjectIn affected motorcycles, there could be excessive electrical resistance in the ground wire for
the accelerator position sensor (APS) and the throttle position sensor (TPS) due to insufficient crimped connections. This excessive resistance can cause incorrect signal to be sent to the engine control unit (ECU) which could lead to unstable engine idle speed and or keep the idle speed from falling below 3000 RPM when the throttle is released which could cause loss of control and result in injury or death.
Initiate Campaign:
Yamaha is initiating a factory modification campaign. Affected motorcycles will have an additional sub-lead wire installed that bypasses the problem area which prevents the excessive resistance
M2011
MODEL: 2011 FJR13AAS/AASCTITLE: Front Brake Switch
SubjectIn affected motorcycles, the brake light may not aluminum eight when the front brake lever is
applied because the activating mechanism in the front brake switch can bind. If the brake light does not come on to alert other drivers when the motorcycle operator applies only the front brake, there could be a crash resulting in injury or death.
Initiate Campaign:Yamaha is initiating a factory modification campaign. Affected motorcycles will have a new
front brake switch installed.
M2011-006R
MODEL: 2008-2011 YW50 TITLE: Exhaust Emissions
SubjectIn affected motorcycles, the exhaust emissions levels do not conform to the EPA emissions
regulations.Initiate Campaign:
Yamaha is initiating a factory modification campaign. Affected motorcycles must have the carburetor and air induction system box replaced with ones that do achieve CO exhaust emission levels within the specifications.
WR2012-002R
MODEL: 2011-2012 VX1800TITLE: Jet Pump Nozzle
SubjectIn affected watercraft, the jet pump nozzle lacks sufficient strength for the application.
Initiate Campaign:Yamaha is initiating a factory modification campaign. Affected watercraft must have the jet
nozzle replaced.
M2013-002R
MODEL: 2009 YW125YTITLE: Fuel Pump
SubjectIn affected scooters, there may be improper to clearance in internal fuel pump components
that cause in an adequate supply of fuel. This limited fuel supply could cause performance problems and hard starting war, in the worst case, engine stalling, resulting in the possibility of a crash with injury or death.
Initiate Campaign:To correct this defect, Yamaha is initiating a Factory Modification Campaign. Affected
watercraft must have a new improved fuel pump installed.
