Recce Form – Location #2 Description of the Location: The subsequent location will be an alley-way, which is positioned behind the parade of shops next to Tesco Express in Oakwood. The alley-way is longer than 100 metres and includes many garages, fences and escape routes which are essential for my opening sequence. Purpose: This alley-way will be imperative to the start of my opening sequence as it represents an enigmatic location for the characters. Also, an alley-way (or any hideout) is one of the most focal conventions in the gangster genre. In this scene, two characters (Mike and Hugo) are dealing illegal drugs where a couple of police officers realise this and chase them down the alley. One escapes whereas the other gets caught, and the mise-en-scene here will contribute to the invigorating action. List three points that make this location suitable for the purpose: - A hideout is one of the main conventions of the genre. This choice of setting connotes jeopardy. - Not many cars passing during the day which avoids the risk of disturbances. - Also, the sound volume will be minimal which complements the scene. List two points that might make this location unsuitable for your purpose: - Passing cars will damage the scene. - Passing residents will damage the scene. If you use this location what will you have to be aware of at all times? If I use this location I will have to be aware of passing cars entering or exiting the premises. Also, there is a road on either side of the alley (Prince George Avenue and S Lodge Dr) and there may be passing cars there too. Additionally, I will ensure that all the local residents are aware that I will be recording for a Media product, as they may assume something else. Will you use this location? Yes/ No Image of the Location:
