The role of the hospital is in transformation. The main parameters, which have impacted changes in hospital architecture, are:

What Is Telesurgery?Telesurgery, also known as remote

surgery, is a type of surgery that combines robotics with modern technology. When telesurgery is performed,a surgeon does not have to be in the same physical location as a patient. Instead, surgery is performed using special instruments that respond to high-speed data and management information programs.

One of the earliest, and most memorable, telesurgical operations was performed by a surgeon, Dr. Jacques Marescaux, in New York City, who was operating on a patient in Strasbourg, France. The gallbladder operation was executed with the help of a dedicated fiberoptic link. The operation was a success, and it marked a whole new era within the surgical field.

TelemedicineTelemedicine Programme is an

innovative process of synergising benefits of Satellite communication technology and information technology with Biomedical Engineering and Medical Sciences to deliver the health care services to the remote, distant and under served regions of the country.

Telemedicine initiatives at ISRO have been broadly divided into the following areas:

Providing Telemedicine Technology & connectivity between remote/rural hospital and Super Speciality Hospital for Teleconsultation, Treatment & Training of doctors & paramedics.

Providing the Technology & connectivity for Continuing Medical Education (CME) between Medical Colleges & Post Graduate Medical Institutions/Hospitals.

Providing Technology & connectivity for Mobile Telemedicine units for rural health camps especially in the areas of ophthalmology and community health.

Providing technology and connectivity for Disaster Management Support and Relief.
