What is AYMES® Shake?AYMES® Shake is a milkshake-style sip feed, suitable for a majority of patients due to it’s comprehensive flavour range and versatile format. It is presented in powder format and provides a nutritionally balanced (1.6kcal/ml) drink, when reconstituted with 200ml whole milk. AYMES® Shake is designed for the dietary management of patients with or at risk of disease related malnu-trition. It contains a complete range of vitamins and minerals. It is available in Banana, Strawberry, Chocolate, Vanilla and Neutral flavours.

Where is AYMES® Shake manufactured? AYMES® Shake is made in the UK by a well-known and trusted manufacturer, with over 20 years experience.

Suggested Intake1-2 servings a day unless otherwise indicated by the clinician or dietitian.

How to Enjoy AYMES® Shake on it’s own:Each sachet of AYMES® Shake should be reconstituted with 200ml of whole milk or water.

We recommend using whole milk to achieve a creamier taste and an improved nutritional profile. AYMES® Shake is best served cold, but can be made up hot, if preferred.

AYMES® Shake provides:• 389* Calories, as well as a full range of vitamins and

minerals and 15.6g of protein when made with whole milk.

• 252* Calories, as well as a full range of vitamins and minerals and 8.8g of protein when made with water

Mixing Instructions• You will need: a large glass or mug, a shaker,

200ml (1/3 pint) whole milk (or water), and one sachet of AYMES® Shake.

• Add the milk (or water) and the sachet of AYMES® Shake to a shaker and shake well until fully mixed.

• Pour into a glass or mug and serve.

• Alternatively, if you don’t have a shaker you can also mix AYMES® Shake with a whisk or fork.

Mixing with a ShakerThe AYMES® Shaker is included in our AYMES® Sample packs. It is also available to order via our website through your Health Care Professional.

If a warm drink is preferred the Shaker is microwaveable after mixing. The spout must be left open to allow for the expansion of air.

You’ll need: a large glass or mug, a shaker, whole milk (or water), and one sachet of AYMES® Shake powder

Add the 200ml of whole milk (or water)

Then the sachet of AYMES® Shake

With the lid securely tightened shake well until fully mixed

‘Food First’ and AYMES® ShakeThe Food First Project was created back in 2012, to address the growing problem of older people becoming malnourished while in hospital, and was initially led by two registered Dietitians based at Bedfordshire primary care trust (PCT), now part of South Essex partnership trust. (SEPT)

Food First is a concept of using simple ways of providing enhanced nutrition to those who are or at risk of becoming malnourished. It can be useful for patients who still have a good appetite.

SWEET RECIPES

01 - AYMES® Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients• 1 Sachet Chocolate AYMES® Shake

• 120g Dark Chocolate

• 70g White Chocolate

• 100g Caster Sugar

• 110g Butter

• 75g Plain Flour

• 2 Eggs

Instructions• Melt the dark chocolate and butter together.

• Mix in the sugar.

• Slightly whisk the eggs and add to the mixture.

• Gently fold in the AYMES® Shake and plain flour.

• Break the white chocolate into small pieces and fold into the brownie mixture.

• Pour into a greased and lined 8” X 8” tin and bake for around 50 minutes at 180°C/1600°C Fan/Gas mark 4. When cooled cut into 9 pieces (3x3).

02 - AYMES® Cupcakes

Ingredients• 1 Sachet Neutral or Vanilla AYMES® Shake

• 100g Margarine or Butter

• 100g Caster Sugar

• 100g Self Raising Flour

• 2 Eggs

• 50ml Full Fat Milk

Instructions• Mix together the butter and sugar until light and creamy.

• Gradually add beaten eggs and milk, adding the flour and AYMES® Shake at the same time.

• Put the mixture into cake cases (around 6 cupcake cases) and bake for 20 minutes at 180oC/Gas mark 4.

04 - AYMES® Mousse

Ingredients - serves 1• 1 sachet of AYMES® Shake (Vanilla, Banana,

Strawberry or Chocolate flavour)

• 1 pot (125g) thick and creamy yoghurt

• 1 handful of fresh strawberries

Instructions• Mix the AYMES® Shake powder into the yoghurt and whisk.

• Cut a small handful of strawberries into halves and place in a bowl.

• Pour the yoghurt mixture over the strawberries and leave to stand for 15 minutes (to ensure the mixture isn’t granulated.)

• Serve cold

Ingredients - makes 4• 1 Sachet AYMES® Shake of your choice

06 - AYMES® Banana or Strawberry Cheesecake

Ingredients - serves 2• 1 Sachet Banana or Strawberry AYMES® Shake

• 200g Cream Cheese

• 100ml Double Cream

• 175g Digestive Biscuits

• 75g Butter

• 1 Banana or half box of Strawberries (Mashed)

Instructions• Grease a cake tin (preferably one with a removable base).

• Melt the butter and crush the biscuits, pour the melted butter over the biscuits and mix. Pour the mixture into the cake tin ensuring the whole of the base is covered.

• Layer the mashed banana/straw-berries over the biscuit base.

• Combine the AYMES® Shake, double cream and cream cheese, the spread over the top of the mashed fruit.

• Refrigerate the cheesecake until set and then serve.

Instructions• Start by lining 2 small dishes with cling film.

• Mix together the AYMES® Shake and double cream to a smooth and thick consistency.

• Crumble the meringue into the yoghurt and fold the two mixtures together.

• Pour into the lined dishes and place in the freezer for a minimum of 3 hours before serving.

• Microwave for approx. 2 1/2 minutes or gently heat in a saucepan until thick. DO NOT BOIL.

10 - AYMES® Breakfast Cereal

Ingredients - serves 1• 1 sachet of Neutral flavour AYMES® Shake.

• 200ml of full cream milk

• Portion of breakfast cereal, such as multigrain hoops, wheat biscuits or cornflakes

• Sugar as desired.

Instructions• Whisk the AYMES® Shake powder with the milk.

• Use the milk mixture to pour over the breakfast cereal as you usually would.

• Sweeten to taste and serve.

Ingredients - serves 1• 1 sachet of Vanilla or Neutral AYMES® Shake• 1 pot (150g) or half a tin of ready-made custard• 50ml of full cream milk

Instructions• Mix the AYMES® Shake powder and the

milk together to form a paste.• Gently heat the custard until hot (do not boil).• Add the paste to the custard.• Stir well until smooth and then serve.

12 - AYMES® Rice Pudding

Ingredients - serves 1• 1 Sachet Vanilla or Neutral AYMES® Shake• 150g or ½ Tin Rice Pudding• 50ml Whole Milk

Instructions• Mix the AYMES® Shake with the whole milk to make a paste. • Gently heat the rice pudding in a saucepan.• Add the paste to the rice pudding,

stirring until smooth and serve.

TOP TIP For an extra treat, serve with a spoonful of whipped cream.

13 - AYMES® Pasta with Sauce

Ingredients - serves 2• 1 Sachet Neutral AYMES® Shake

• 400ml Whole Milk

• 1x120g packet of Pasta with Sauce

InstructionsMix together the AYMES® Shake with the packet of pasta with sauce and whole milk. Put into a saucepan and gradually heat for the recommended time stated on the pasta with sauce packet. Do not boil. Serve immediately.

• 1 tin of Soup/400g homemade soup

• 200ml Whole Milk

InstructionsCombine the AYMES® Shake with the whole milk until smooth and then mix into the soup in a saucepan. Gently heat for 3-5 minutes and then serve.

15 - AYMES® Cheese Sauce

Ingredients - serves 1• 3 level tbsp. (45g) Neutral AYMES® Shake

• 2 level tbsp. (25g) Cheese Sauce Granules

• 100ml boiling water

InstructionsMix together the AYMES® Shake and cheese sauce granules, add the hot water and whisk to a smooth consistency before serving.

Ingredients - serves 1• 1 sachet of Neutral flavour AYMES® Shake

• 1 sachet of Instant Soup

• Gently heat the milk and then add to the powders, whilst whisking to get a smooth consistency.
