Our Technical Department can provide you with a full support service including: Advice, assistance and recommendations on all structural repair matters Devising and preparing complete repair proposals for specific situations METHOD STATEMENT GENERAL NOTES 1. Mark the position for CemTie insertion on the outer brick face or mortar joints. These should be positioned as shown below and not at the Head or ‘T’ joints. 2. Drill an appropriate diameter clearance hole, depending on the length and diameter of the CemTie, (See Specification Note ‘C’ below) through the multi-wythe bricks at the specified angle, to a predetermined depth. 3. Flush the holes clean. 4. Fill the pinning nozzle of the applicator gun with HeliBond grout and insert the CemTie fully into the nozzle using a twisting action to wind it through the grout. 5. Insert the pinning nozzle to the back of the clearance hole and slowly inject the grout. 6. As the grout is injected the CemTie is carried with it and back pressure pushes the nozzle out of the hole to leave a fully grouted tie. 7. Allow to cure and make good the entry hole with color matched materials to meet the requirements of the site. RECOMMENDED TOOLING RT10 Rotary percussion 3-jaw-chuck-type drill For drilling clearance hole.........SDS rotary hammer drill 650w/700w or rotary percussion 3-jaw-chuck type drill For installing CemTie ...........HD Applicator Gun and Pinning Nozzle Specification Notes The following criteria are to be used unless specified otherwise: A. Length of CemTies to be sufficient to allow a minimum 3” embedment into the second or third brick wythe. B. Depth of clearance hole to be length of CemTie + 1” (taking care not to go right through the wall). C. Diameter of clearance hole to be determined on site – typically: 8mm diameter tie up to 18” long – 14mm 8mm diameter tie over 18” long – 16mm D. Tie spacing to be determined by the project engineer in accordance with individual site conditions The above specification notes are for general guidance only and Helifix reserves the right to amend details/notes as necessary.
