First Generation growth
30% of higher education students entering college are going to be the first generation to attend school. 24% (4.5 million students) will be BOTH first in their family to go to college
and be a low income student. Of the 7.3 million full-time undergraduates currently attending four-
year public and private nonprofit institutions, about 20% are the first in their families to go to college.
(Humphreys,2015).
Financial Benefit:
Low EFC (expected family contribution) Full Pell eligible Full state grant eligible
PHEAA for PA
Internal funding will be low
School Profile:
The Census Bureau projects that by the year 2100, the U.S. minority population will become the majority with non-Hispanic whites making up only 40% of the U.S. population
Making a school profile more diverse opens up recruiting opportunities for distant students
As you diversify your profile the university will appeal to the growing target market
