LIVE and VIRTUAL

PRAYER – FIRST!!!

• That God will soften the hearts of people HE leads you to.

• That He will quicken your effort.

• That he will encourage you as you encourage others to serve.

•Not be disheartened should people say ‘No’.

• That He would reveal people to your ministry.

• The RIGHT people.

Decide the type of Club(s)

• LIVE – Is your Club/Church able to meet the County requirements?• Social Distancing, Masks, Cleaning, etc.

•HYBRID – Both or some parts of Club LIVE or VIRTUAL. Perhaps converting from VIRTUAL to LIVE.

•VIRTUAL – What Social Media are you going to use? When? How are you using Breakouts or multiple Club times?• Zoom, Google Hangout, Livestream, GoToMeeting, Marco Polo, Skype, WebEx, etc.

Identify Needs (LIVE CLUB)• Positions you need filled:

• Leaders: Cubbies, T&T, etc… MOST IMPORTANT IN AWANA!

• Listeners, Game Leaders

• Photographer

• Administrator/Secretaries

• *Co-Commander

• Greeter, Awards, Parent Distractor/Encourager…Etc.

• Be prepared to make new/compress roles to fit your church needs

• How many Leaders do you need?• 2 Leaders for 10 Kids

• Student Leaders (Caution: They are not adults)

• Volunteer Parent

Prepare Yourselves• If others are going to follow, then you must LEAD.• Develop People Skills:

• Know how to lead a Child to Christ (Practice) ie: Gospel Wheel• Read the Bible (Read Commentaries too).• Attend Church if open (and don’t go to sleep).• Attend Training (online, Video, live) Apply what you learned.• Know how to ask questions to build conversation with Leaders,

Parents, and Kids.• Dress well. Presentable on camera and in person.• Encourage other Leaders/Parents with examples.• Keep people informed what is going on in your ministry Be a

resource.• Contact your Missionary for Training information.

Virtual VolunteerismRecruiting volunteers is hard work.

Virtual Volunteers still need to be there!

Determine what types of volunteer positions can be filled by people working from their own home or computer.

Suggestions include:

Virtual VolunteerismSocial-media coordinator: Recruit someone to help coordinate and update your social media posts.

1. Mediators – Responders to people with questions.

2. Photographers – Get permissions from parents to post kids pics.

3. Graphic designers – moving graphics and eye-catching pics

Multimedia editor:

Voice-overs, slide shows, and video announcements.

Event Planner: Organize, coordinate, communicate. (SignUpGenius)

Virtual VolunteerismAdvertising/promotion – The internet offers a variety of advertising and promotion opportunities — often free of charge. (Google AdWords, Ad Sense, Yahoo Marketing, Eventful).

Research Assistant - ideas from various ministries or sermons providing links, illustrations, jokes, background info, etc. Ideal to help the Large Group Leader.

Giving and Donation Encourager: willing to make calls or send emails soliciting businesses for food or prize donations for special events like Awana Store.

Direct Mail Coordinator: mail encouragements to Leaders and kids in your ministry. Everyone loves to get mail (except junk mail).

Virtual VolunteerismAwana Leader: Can transfer from Virtual to Live when opportunities permit. Small Group Leader. Encourager/teacher to help kids study verses (Tutor). Video listener – kids submit final verse recitation.

Entertainment Coordinator/Researcher: Virtual Games and Live Games (including Awana Games). All grade levels needed. Practical training (preplanning required) like build a First Aid Kit, build a model car (Grand Prix), Noah’s Ark, Armor of God... Teens: Change a Flat Tire and Car Maintenance. Map reading/compass, Scrap Booking, Cooking, Time Capsule, Build a Picnic Table as a team.

Large Group: Active Storyteller ability. Skits, tricks, object lessons. Teens, Single person, or a team. Music, testimony, dramatic Bible Reader.

Talk to the Leadership of your Church

• Pastors (and spouse) –• They may already know who they would like to see in that Ministry

• Youth/Children’s Pastors – Who has kids, and Student Leader Candidates.

• Elder/Deacons (and spouse) -• Know families with kids, quality people, and resources.

• People already ‘inspired’ (the easy mark!)• They can help – Networking

• Build a confidential “hit list” of who to approach.

3 Times Ask

Never beg!Invite new Leaders to JOIN YOU.

Outline what is needed in the ministry.

Provide information.

2nd Ask. (Alternate position or what inspires them)

3rd Ask. (You’ll have their attention by now)

Never stop recruiting• Awana Ministries generally GROW

• You don’t have enough Leaders!• More Leaders…More kids

• More Leaders build relationships

• Some Leaders move, Get sick, Baseball, etc.

• Keep training Leaders• This is a MINISTRY – Base it on the Gospel.

• Ministry involves work, training and encouragement

• Treat other Leaders like family• Leaders often quit because of other Leaders

considered.• Final approval by Pastor/authority.

• Pastor/Authority may know something you don’t.
