SAINT PETER PARISH MINISTRY CENTER 128 E. Nineteenth Avenue, Covington, LA 70433

ST. PETER PARISH MISSION STATEMENT

We, the believers of St. Peter Parish, having our beginnings as the earliest Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of New Orleans on the Northshore, in response to God's call, come together:

to love God and one another to worship as a faith community to be God's hands, heart and mind and to provide for our community's spiritual and

physical needs

In doing this, we glorify God and help realize His reign on earth. While rejoicing in the experience of our pilgrimage, we must ever keep in mind our ultimate destination through our faithful stewardship of time, talent and treasure. Called to be a prayerful and hospitable Catholic family of living faith, we welcome and invite all people to share in our unique gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Sunday of Divine Mercy April 8th:

In the Gospel today, Jesus stands in the midst of us and says: “Peace be with you!” During Mass we turn to each other and say “Peace be with you!” As you put your gift into the St. Vincent de Paul poor box you say “Peace be with you!” to those who are poor and hungry.

From the St. Peter Catholic School, Principal’s Weekly Newsletter: March 28, 2018

Dear St. Peter Families,

Holy Week is such a powerful time in our liturgical year. We had a wonderful school Mass this morn-ing. It also marked the last all school Mass for our 7th grade class. This is a special time for these stu-dents as they near the end of their time at St. Peter. Tomorrow, our 6th grade students will participate in a Seder Meal to better understand the Jewish roots of our Catholic faith. We want to thank all of our 4th graders who per-formed the living sta-

tions with great reverence yesterday. They helped us to maintain a prayerful atmosphere around campus.

We are updating our safety procedures around campus. You will see signs posted around cam-pus beginning this week. We are asking that parents dropping off children in the mornings to refrain from entering school buildings without a pass and permission from the office. We are also asking that parents eating with their chil-dren in the cafeteria leave campus after lunch time. These are two minor changes that we feel are important for our school visitor policy and safety. We sincerely appreciate your coopera-tion.

As Catholics, we end the Lenten Season today and prepare our hearts for the power of the Holy Triduum and Easter. In dying for our salvation, Christ gave us the incredible example of embracing His cross on the very road to His crucifixion. He showed us how to love in the midst of so much suffering, and today He still calls us to follow His example. In His conquering death, we are reminded that nothing is beyond Jesus Christ.

I pray you and your families have a blessed Holy Triduum and Easter Sunday!

God alone,

Michael Kraus
