Aldersgate UMC has a rich history of being “mission-minded”, serving anywhere from local to international locations. Since the 1980s, Aldersgate has sent short-term mission teams to Costa Rica, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Rus-sia, Columbia, Ecuador, Mexico, Ghana, and Hungary. Closer to home, we have had teams serve at Red Bird Mission in Ken-tucky annually since 2007. The work done in Jesus’ name on these trips has included many diverse activities including medi-cal, literacy, children’s ministry, construction, recreation, spir-itual coaching, and relationship building. Many of our mem-bers have led short-term teams, having received training through UMVIM and other organizations. We relish the oppor-tunity to introduce others to the mission field to serve the Lord as He calls them. Rev. Richard Williams, Associate Pastor, [email protected]

Servants in Faith and Technology (SIFAT)
When: June 16-24, 2018
Team Size: Up to 25 (families/intergenerational)
Cost: Approximately $2,000 per person
Description:
The team will be helping to start a new project.
We will literally be laying the foundations (or
maybe the ground floor) for classrooms at the
Compassion center in Aida Leon, a beautiful
but very poor area of Quito. Pastor Wilson has
been waiting 9 years for SIFAT to get started but
there were problems with title to the land.
Those have finally been settled! The Compas-
sion project has a huge waiting list of children
not able to get in for lack of space. In addition
to the construction work, we will spend time
with the children in the center, playing, having
worship, and having VBS type activities. Hous-
ing to be in a local hotel in Quito.
