RED RIBBON CLUB

Report

The red ribbon is used as the symbol of the prevention of drunk and driving, drug

prevention and also for fight against AIDS.

Red Ribbon project was established by the New York visual AIDS artists’ caucus in

1991. It is a global symbol aiming at common fight against HIV & AIDS.

Red Ribbon club was started in our college on 28th

August, 2010 under the chairmanship

of the principal Sri. Phelix Edward, as per the guidelines of CCE, Hyderabad with the objectives

listed below.

Objectives:

Educate youth correct, concise and adequate information about AIDS and other related

issues.

Eliminating myths and misconceptions.

Enable youth especially female students to identify and understand situations of

exploitation and abuse.

Sensitize the youth regarding care and supporting needs.

Instill the spirit of helping and supporting the people suffering with AIDS and increase

youths’ access to health care services

Create peer educators among the students to sensitize the community at large.

Formation of Red Ribbon Club at college level:

To facilitate and organize various programs smoothly and effectively to educate students

about AIDS, a committee will be constituted every year at institutional level. Committee

constituted for 2015-16 given below.

Impact:

The youth especially female students of our college got awareness of HIV and AIDS

causes and preventive measures, developed peer educators along them to sensitize the

community.

Convener of the club B. Janardhan Rao received best volunteer award from District AIDS

prevention and health control organization, Medak District.
