PRINCIPAL’S CORNER
Dear Parents,
Sometimes we need to take the time to say thank you, so..........
Thank you for all you do.
I was in the first-grade classroom this morning and there were 6 adults volunteering. Kudos to the
parents who are so united in their dedication to their children. A SPECIAL kudos to the three
grandmothers, who are retired teachers, working in the first grade classroom. I walked into the
library to see them working in small groups with the first graders. Thank you for giving your time
and talent to serve our students. Your actions make the school stronger and your grandchildren's
education deeper. I am in awe of our wonderful collaborative community. A big thank you to Mrs.
Bartelt for creating an atmosphere where her "cookies" are being so very well served!
Thank you to Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Vena, and Ms. Berumen. They have taken the STEM to a new
level in their math classes. Thank you to Mrs. Haggett for her use of STEM in grades 4-6
science classes. Thank you to Mrs. Marshall for your diligent work on Edgenuity which serves so
many students in our school.
Did you know that CJSF, run by Mrs. Abraham, is adopting a family from our Catholic
Services for Christmas? They will be having a bake sale tomorrow to raise funds for this
endeavor. In addition, the student council will be providing a Christmas for a family of need in our
sister school, Immaculate Conception. Thank you to Ms. Gasparo and Mrs. Bartelt for their
work with the student council.
Thank you to Ms. Lee and Ms. Suzanne. Their dedication to the choir has resulted in a truly
talented group of students who praise God. Can you ask for anything better than that!? Every
Tuesday and Thursday morning I am serenaded in the morning. They are truly my favorite days.
I could go on and on, but it is best that I add a little every week. I will continue to give thanks for all
that happens on this campus as there are so many little miracles and sometimes they are lost in the
shuffle.
I am so very, very thankful and grateful!

MISSIONARY CHILDHOOD ASSOCIATION VIRTUS TRAINING
Pope Francis reminds us that "each of us is a mission to the world, for each of us is the fruit of God's love." In teaching the children about the importance of prayer, sharing and serving others, The Missionary Childhood
Association (MCA) hopes to teach children about the missionary dimension of how they live their faith day to day.
The MCA is the primary avenue for our Catholic school students to support men and women in our foreign missions who give their lives by enhancing the life and faith of the poorest of poor in the world. They strive for us to bring out within the children awareness of the Christ of Charity. Please encourage your child to contribute their personal money to their classroom MCA bank. All money raised will be sent to the MCA mission program. Thank you in advance for your support.

REFLECTING SUNDAY’S GOSPEL MESSAGE
FAITH HEROES THROUGH FAITH FORMATION
Thirtieth Sunday
in
Ordinary Time
Luke 18:9-14 Reflecting on the Word
This week we continue our focus on prayer. It is human nature to compare ourselves to others. It is easier to focus on the ways in which we are “better” than others than to attend to our own failings. In fixating on the faults of others, the
Pharisee blinds himself to his own sins and they become obstacles to his relationship with God. The tax collector, in contrast, confesses his sins and begs the mercy of God. He approaches God with fear and trembling, fully aware of his own
failures, and God will exalt him in return.
……On the Way to Mass
This week’s Gospel reading will teach us more about prayer. Ask your children to pay attention to the words and actions of the Pharisee and tax collector.
On the Way Home from Mass……
Have your children explain the difference between the Pharisee and the tax collector. Discuss why Jesus preferred the prayer of the tax collector when the Pharisee was indeed trying to be good and follow the rules.
Living the Word Explore the virtue of humility as a family. Ask
your children how Jesus showed humility in his earthly life, and find stories of Jesus and the
saints practicing humility. Discuss how the path to holiness looks different for different people. Why should we avoid comparing ourselves to others? How can comparisons be an obstacle to holiness?
