Established in 1886, Wolcott was once the largest rail center on Colorado’s Western Slope.

From 1886 to 1906, a horse-drawn stagecoach left Wolcott daily for Steamboat Springs.

In its heyday, Wolcott shipped an estimated 2,000 train cars of cattle annually.

Over 25,000 sagebrush plants were hand-dug, potted, placed in a nursery and replanted in native areas throughout the courses.
