Jon Burroughs, MD, MBA, FACHE, FAAPL is President and CEO of The Burroughs Healthcare Consulting Network, Inc. and works with some of the nation’s top healthcare consulting organizations to provide ‘best practice’ solutions and training to healthcare organizations throughout the country in the areas of governance, physician–hospital alignment strategies, credential-ing, privileging, peer review and performance improvement/patient safety, medical staff development planning, strategic planning, physician perfor-mance and behavior management as well as ways in which physicians and management can work together in new ways to solve quality, safety, opera-tional, and financial challenges.
Dr. Burroughs serves on the national faculty of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Association for Physician Leader-ship, where he has been consistently rated as one of their top speakers and educators. In 2014, he and Dr. David Nash were awarded a development grant by the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) to develop a twelve-hour national program to address population health and the disrup-tive innovative business models necessary to support it. Dr. Burroughs re-ceived his bachelor’s degree at Johns Hopkins University, his MD from
Case Western Reserve University, and a healthcare MBA with honors from the Isenberg School of Management. He is a certified healthcare and physician executive and is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Association for Physician Leadership, and was the healthcare representative on the U.S. Quality Council.
Full attendance for the entire session is a prerequisite for receiving continuing education credits. This program has been developed and is presented locally by the WV Chapter ACHE. The American College for Healthcare Executives has awarded 6.0 Face-to-Face (ACHE education) credit hours to this session.
Redesign and Operationalize Your Medical Staff for Health Reform
Program Objectives:
• Understand the evolution of the organized medical staff from a divisive group to a fully integrated model, high lighting the case for a comprehensive redesign
• Maximize the key functions of the organized medical staff to increase focus on collaboration, continual im-provement and aligned goals
• Develop the "long view" in the context of uncertainty and disruption and establish a foundation for differentia-tion, support systems and human and financial resources
• Understand the evolution of the organized medical staff from a divisive group to a fully integrated model, high-lighting the case for a comprehensive redesign
• Discover how top-performing healthcare organizations work with medical staffs in new and innovative ways to optimize quality and service and significantly reduce operating costs
• Examine the new world of dual accountabilities and how it can be effectively managed • Examine the new world of dual accountabilities and how it can be optimally managed • Recognize the potential pitfalls when orchestrating an extensive organizational medical staff redesign

1. Admission to the chapter function at no cost and 2. A travel stipend for up to $100 travel reimbursement (receipts must accompany request). It would be expected the students will report back their experience and any educational information to the HEN program. If you would like to be considered for a student scholarship present this document to your HEN Program Director (School Faculty) to be considered. The notice of award must be submitted to Program Registrar along with a completed registra-tion form. Program pre-registration deadlines apply to this opportunity.

West Virginia Chapter American College of Healthcare Executives Student Scholarship Program

The WV Chapter ACHE offers a student scholarship and you may be eligible to apply. The objective of the program is to provide students with the West Virginia based HEN (Higher Education Network) an incentive to provide leadership to the local student organization, provide education and networking opportunities for un-dergraduate and graduate students in health care administration, and to heighten awareness of the American College of Healthcare Executives to future healthcare administrators. Program: This program is targeted to the current HEN sites, including Marshall University, Huntington, WV and West Virginia Uni-versity, Morgantown, WV. Annually the West Virginia Chapter Board of Directors will award two scholarships to each HEN site to be used for any Chapter education and networking function. The scholarship award will waive the registration fee, including networking events and provide a travel stipend to the event. For this event the student registration and the dinner fee will be waived for the students awarded the scholarship. Each scholarship recipient will be eligible for up to $100 travel reimbursement (receipts must accompany request). The HEN Program Director will issue the awards, one to a student leading the local student chapter and one to a student at their discretion that demonstrates leadership qualities most reflected by the values and ethics of the ACHE.
