Santiago de Sargadelos is a very small village situated in Galicia.

In Sargadelos stands the Pottery Factory that takes the name of the village.

Sargadelos Factory history is divided into two big periods:

The old period, which starts at the end of 18th century to 1875, during this period we will point up to

    Antonio Raimundo Ibez.

The present period, which starts in 1949, being Isaac Daz Pardo, the most important person.

Antonio Raimundo Ibez was a big enterprising person. The first ideas about the

foundation of Sargadelos factory arise in Ibezs mind under the reign of Carlos 3rdand Carlos 4th.

Ibezs career reaches its highest point with the building of the industrial complex of

Sargadelos (forge, cast iron foundry factory and later pottery factory).

    His enterprising attitude would lead

    him to death.

The man who more had done about

the development of Galicia at the

end of the 18th century and thebeginning of 19th, was brutally

    assassinated by his country

    neighbours, who werent able to

accept that he had been very

    successful in his enterprises and

    achieved so many favours.

    The making Sargadelos

    Pottery was stopped for about

    100 years, from 1875 to 1968.

In this new period Isaac Daz

    Pardo (intellectual,businessman, painter, writer,

    potter, designer), founded a

    model of enterprise preferring

    the social and cultural service

    to any economical

    profitability.

This project was also good for the exiled Galician intellectuals in the Argentine

since the end of the Spanish Civil War, which took shape in 1963 with the

    creation of the Shape Laboratory.

    The works on Cervo factory

    start in Sargadelos in 1968.

    It was about restoring, in

that new phase, the old spirit

    of Sargadelos, its ethical

    conception of enterprise, far

    from any speculative

    temptation.
