– staffing provision is appropriate;

– appropriate resources are available;

– a reduction in unnecessary custodial/secure remands through Saturday and occasional courts.

Case Management Guidance

• Notification system that allows enough time for assessment to be made.

• Experienced/trained staff in place to carry out the assessment and to be present in court.

• Resources available to inform the assessment i.e. access to the YOT MIS for the worker.

• Resources available so the worker can meaningfully address the courts concerns e.g. access to accommodation etc.

• Management over sight on the day.
