Reef Relief® is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to improving and protecting our coral reef ecosystem.

We are currently searching for applications for our upcoming internships located in Key West, Florida. Current students and recent graduates are

Our Goals: • Focus on rigorous science to educate the public & advocacy toward

policymakers to achieve conservation, protection, and restoration of coral reefs

• Increase public awareness of the importance and value of living coral reef ecosystems

• Increase scientific understanding and knowledge of living coral reef ecosystems

• Strengthen grassroots community-based efforts to protect coral reef ecosystems

• Design, develop, support, and implement strategies for marine protected areas associated with coral reef ecosystems

• Encourage and support eco-tourism as part of sustainable community development that protects and preserves coral reef ecosystems

• Strengthen our organizational capacity to carry out our mission

Reef Relief is a registered 501(c)3 organization located in Key West, Florida.

Reef Relief is a non-profit organization so all internships are unpaid, and housing is not provided. Housing or a small stipend may be available

depending on funding.

Reef Relief Storm Water Education Intern

Accepting for fall and spring 2019. September-December or January-May (exact start and end dates are flexible) Interns selected will help to organize and staff community volunteer opportunities

related to Reef Relief’s Storm Water Education Program.

The Storm water Education Program internship duties includes four main components:

• Recruiting and organizing volunteers • Buoy maintenance and recovery at the Key West Marine Park • Stenciling awareness messages around local storm drains

• Organizing and leading marine debris removal projects (both land and water based)

You will also be familiar with the following areas: • Environmental education with youth and adults • Operation of Reef Relief’s environmental center

• Florida Keys Skip the Straw Campaign • Key West Responsible Sunscreen Campaign

• Planning, organizing special events, marketing, fundraising

Qualifications Successful applicants will have a strong background in marine/environmental science

and conservation.

Reef Relief Education Intern

Accepting applications for fall and spring 2019

September-December or January-May (exact start and end dates are flexible) Interns selected will help to organize and staff events, promote Reef Relief and its programs, present classroom lessons on marine science and work on marine field

projects as needed. Assist with Spring Break Coral Camp. This internship is a great opportunity to gain hands on experience in marine education and conservation as

well as marketing and event planning.

You will also become familiar with the following areas: • Environmental education for children and adults

• Designing new curriculum and lessons • Operation of Reef Relief’s environmental center

• Educational campaigns such as Skip the Straw and Responsible sunscreen • Planning, organizing special events, marketing, fundraising

Qualifications:

Applicants must have a degree in marine science or education or be actively seeking one. Knowledge of local marine life is preferred.
