Our world today is known as the new commons
Global in scope
Persistently global in impact
We are determined to see the COMPLEX
Democracy favors inclusion but does not thrive without leadership

Four Critical Four Critical DistinctionsDistinctions
1. authority vs. leadership
2. technical problems vs. adaptive challenges
3. power vs. progress

We are trying to We are trying to impact change on impact change on behalf of othersbehalf of others
Leadership is collaborative
Leadership is a process not a position
Leadership is inclusive and accessible to all people
Leadership is values-based
VALUESVALUES
SELF-KNOWLEDGE- learning about oneself is the first step to contributing to the whole
SERVICE- give back to those in need
COLLABORATION- working with individuals to come up with more meaningful ways of life
We demonstrate consciousness of self because wherever we are we are technically always “wearing our letters”, we believe it is important to stay true to your actions
and take responsibility for the wrong ones,
but respecting the fact that we are always representing our
sorority whether on vacation, on campus, or at a social event.
We exercise congruence by staying true to ourselves and allowing Phi Sigma
Sigma to help us grow as women by fully committing to our membership and
doing what’s best for our community and
those around us.
Phi Sigma Sigma works towards the same common purpose of making our organization thrive to its fullest potential. We fully commit to our membership and collaborate with one another to make the best decisions so that no one will be affected negatively by any outcomes. Although there is always controversy with civility, we hold open discussions so that every member has an equal opportunity to voice their opinion.
Although we know that we are
members of our organization we are well aware that we
are not only students on campus but
members of the community
Phi Sigma SigmaPhi Sigma SigmaCore ValuesCore Values
Life long learning- encourage to make the most at our colleges and communities
Inclusiveness- We seek and include women of all backgrounds and perspectives. We embrace all of our differences
Leadership through service- We believe that a woman who serves is also a woman who leads.
to sum it upto sum it upThe role of values in the SCM not only persists to enlarge leadership among organizations but to seek different leadership among all individuals. Hence why leadership can be taught not only among those holding positions but also all those that are committed to the organization and have the ability and urge to give back.
The hungers and distinctions both set up guidelines and show values behind intricate knowledge of leadership that is needed in our new commons today.
Although all organizations hold different values and have a variety of ethical perspectives the SCM describes these values and perspectives to be similar in some aspect because no matter what we are a part of we are trying to make the world we live in essentially better for us and those around us.
