REFLECTION ON STATISTICS FOR EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH

Alhamdulillah, up to this day I have learned a lot regarding statistics. Although sometime I find it quite tough but still can survive. By learning statistics, I hope can help in my research project later on. On the second chapter of statistics, I had learned about the shape of distribution. In this part, there are several types of distribution known as skewness and kurtosis. It is importance to differentiate the shape of distribution in order to understand which part that needs to calculate. Besides, I also have learned about mean, median and mode which are very useful in my analysis data. From what Assoc. Prof. Doctor Azlinda had explained, in research analysis it is not suitable to use mean because it will give unaccurate data.In the chapter 3, which is regarding measuring relative achievement, I need to understand how to find quartile, percentile rank and percentile point. These can be used to find percentile rank in students score, height and etc. Quartile also can be finding by plotting the graph. From the graph, need to find 75th and 25th point which is for Q3 and Q1 because the formula to calculate quartile is . Besides, in this chapter there are a few formulas that need to be used. For some reason, I quite worried if in the examination hall I will get confuse which formula that I need to use.On the 22nd October Assoc. Prof. Doctor Azlinda conducted a quiz 1 in the class. The questions are covered the chapter 1 until 3 which are 20 multiple choice questions. From the result that I get, it is quite disappointed because I get the lowest marks. May be this is because I not really understand the concept in statistics. For the next quiz Insha Allah I will do my best and do a lot of exercise in order to help me understand more on concept in statistics. As conclusion, statistics will become interesting if we could understand and able to do all the exercises. Besides, statistics can be joyful when we could apply the entire concept in every task that we do.
