DAY BOAT HIRE SUP – Stand Up Paddle boarding Stand Up Paddle boarding is an invigorating and widely diverse activity, which, like many other paddle sports, can form part of a healthy lifestyle and a means to meeting like-minded people. Here at Martham Boats we run a SUP school to introduce people to the sport with fully qualified instructors. Canoeing Canoeing / Kayaking on the rivers of the Norfolk Broads is a wonderfully fun and safe experience for both intermediate and novice canoeists alike. There is ample opportunity to explore the marvels of the River Thurne which leads you to both Horsey and Hickling Broad. Whether you are a family, group of friends, an individual or even a corporate event, we can cater for your every need. All our canoes are designed to carry either 2/3 adults or 2 adults and 2 small children and our kayaks are for 1 person. On arrival you will be issued with buoyancy aids and given a briefing on both safety and paddling techniques. Our canoes / kayaks can be hired from anything from 1/2 day to a week or more. Set in idyllic Norfolk Broads countryside,we offer a wide range of self catering accommodation from cosy riverside bungalows to the hire of traditional hand crafted timber and GRP Norfok Broads Cruisers and Sailing Yachts. Some of our traditional wooden boats were designed and built here at Martham by our dedicated team of Boat Builders back in the 1940’s/1950’s, and they have been constructed in a way that harmonises with the romantic views of the Norfolk Broads and the Suffolk Broads and their wildlife. Our boat hire fleet not only includes Norfolk Broads traditional wooden cruisers and sailing yachts, there is also a selection of electric launches/day boats, half deckers (day sailers) and canoes, which are available for hire for those who wish to spend a quiet day exploring our beautiful and safe rivers here on the Norfolk Broads. Martham is on one of the quietest stretches of the River Thurne between Potter Heigham and Hickling. Our newly refurbished Quay Heading and river bank is a magnificent place for those who wish to moor their boat whether it be a day boat, sailing boat or broads cruiser. Along with moorings we have various facilities at our River Side Office which include showers, toilets, water, diesel, pump out facilties and car parking as well as our own slip way for those of you who wish to use it. The Norfolk Broads are also world famous for fishing. From monster pike to perch and roach, many catch records have been set here. Our bungalows are particularly appealing to those that wish to fish from their own private area on the River Thurne whilst having all the comforts of home just a few yards away. Fishing is not the only thing that the Norfolk Broads is world famous for. The nature reserves in the Norfolk Broads are spectacular for those who enjoy walking, rambling and hiking. Here you will find miles of country lanes to explore which lead you to hidden villages and plenty of pubs. THREE RIVERS REGATTA Horning is the host for a remarkable annual event in which our yachts and half deckers may compete, namely the Three Rivers Race which takes place usually on the first weekend in June and covers the Rivers Bure, Ant and Thurne. Hickling Broad REGATTA The Hickling Regatta takes places in August, on the beautiful Hickling Broad. The regatta features boats that are over 100 years old, racing in challenging conditions. BARTON Hire boat REGATTA In the Autumn, our yachts can take part in the Broads Charter Yacht Regatta, which is held on Barton Broad over four days in October. The regatta provides a popular racing and social package with meals and musical entertainment culminating at a prize giving dinner on the Thursday evening. There are 18 trophies at stake as a memento of the regatta, so no one goes away empty handed For exact dates please contact the office on 01493 740249 Day Launches Martham is the perfect place to hire a day launch for those of you who wish to explore the beauty and tranquility of the Norfolk Broads. All of our day launches carry up to 6 people and are available for hire by the hour, a day from 9 am – 4pm or week and buoyancy aids are included in the price. Half Deckers Why not come and enjoy a day out on one of our half deckers. Seating up to 6 people, our half deckers are all gunter rigged and come complete with a full awning. These can be hired by the day from 9am – 4pm, a short break or a week. Buoyancy aids are included in the price. Mattresses can be supplied for those of you who would like to camp, with a limit of 2 per boat. These will need to be pre-ordered on booking. TENDER Dinghies Sailing and rowing dinghies seating up to 2 people are available for hire for the day, short break or week. Buoyancy aids are included in the price. QUEST SAILING DINGHIES Our class R S Quest sailing dinghies are 14’1” and are simple and compact to sail. With a large self-draining cockpit that take up to 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children, they have been designed to offer maximum security and safety and are ideal for training and family sailing. Buoyancy aids are included in the price. Hire terms available on request. services BEDDING All of our boats come with clean and laundered bedding ready to make your stay as comfortable as possible. GARAGE ARRANGEMENTS At owner’s risk, cars may be garaged under cover at our works or parked outdoors for the period of your holiday. A charge is made for this. We strongly recommend customers to take advantage of the undercover parking facility. TRANSPORT On arrival at either the train or coach station, telephone 01493 740249 and we shall be pleased to collect your party with one of the company vehicles. This extends to the return of your party on the day of departure. A small charge is made to cover the cost of fuel. LUGGAGE Luggage forwarded in advance is accepted and stored until your arrival. Empty cases may be stored at the boatyard whilst you are on your cruise. MAIL We will accept mail during your holiday. Writers are advised to address correspondence with the name of the hirer and the name of the craft, c/o the company at the address on the back of this brochure. If mail is expected, frequent telephone contact should be made with our office. DINGHIES Rowing and sailing dinghies may be hired to tow behind your cruiser or yacht. SAFETY All boats are provided with a lifebelt. We recommend that you wear buoyancy aids and these are available on request, as are cot sides for bunks. LICENCES Short-term boat licences may be obtained in our reception. SLIPWAY Our slipway may be used for launching and pulling out private boats. A small charge is made for this service. We ask customers to try to avoid Saturday mornings, when we are busy turning round our own fleet. IF DIFFICULTIES ARISE Should you experience any problems on your cruise, we shall be pleased to advise you or send one of our maintenance team to wherever you are moored. We would rather hear from you under these circumstances than let you endeavour to meet the situation without assistance and maybe spoil your holiday. HANDING OVER CRAFT Customers can take possession of craft at 2pm on Fridays and 3pm on Saturdays. Provided your craft has been cleaned and serviced, you may take over earlier. Customers arriving after 5pm will be checked in and shown out the following morning. All craft must be returned by 9am on the day of departure, clean and tidy. Weekend break take over at 2pm. DIESEL AND PETROL FUEL A full tank of diesel or petrol is incorporated in the hire charge. DAMAGE WAIVER A non-refundable damage waiver, normally £35 according to the size of the boat, is payable in advance. This covers accidental damages or breakages but not loss of equipment by negligence or by returning craft in an unclean state which will incur extra charges. SECURITY DEPOSIT A security deposit of £50 is required for the hire of day sailing craft. This deposit will be refunded unless there is damage to the craft on its return to the boatyard.
